pol-probe-advisorMatches a hypothesis and its risk to one of five Proof of Life probe types instead of defaulting to whichever tool you already know.
Picking a validation method by tooling comfort, reaching for Figma because you know Figma rather than because it answers the actual risk, is the failure mode this guards against. It works backwards from the hypothesis to ask what specific risk needs eliminating and what the cheapest path to a harsh truth looks like, then matches the answer to one of five probe flavors: a feasibility check, a task-focused test, a narrative prototype, a synthetic data simulation, or a fifth option for cases the first four don't cover, each with its own core question, best-fit situation, and typical timeline.
10 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1b5a524. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

Proof of Life Probe Selector loads about 5.3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 48 tokens; SKILL.md has 2,595 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 2,595 words (~5,284 tokens).
“Guide product managers through selecting the right Proof of Life (PoL) probe type (of 5 flavors) based on their hypothesis, risk, and available resources. Use this when you need to eliminate a specific risk or test a narrow hypothesis, but…”

Proof of Life Probe Selector fits situations like: unsure which validation method fits a specific hypothesis; choosing between a feasibility check and a task-focused test; matching available time and resources to a probe type.

Proof of Life Probe Selector has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 5.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 21k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
