outbound-prospectingFinds, qualifies, and reaches prospects through cold outreach — list building, qualification criteria, cold email and multi-channel sequences, and the follow-up that actually gets replies.
Outbound Prospecting is an agent skill from cbrock84/headcount. Finds, qualifies, and reaches prospects through cold outreach — list building, qualification criteria, cold email and multi-channel sequences, and the follow-up that actually gets replies. Use this to build a prospect list, write cold outreach, fix a sequence that is not getting responses, define qualification criteria, or decide whether a segment is worth pursuing.
Its SKILL.md is about 1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/sources.md`).
It sits in Sales & Support, covering Cold outreach. The repository describes itself as: An agent organization structured as a company — 15+ departments, 125+ skills, each independently installable, citing the standards and regulators that settle the question. Runs… The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 98d1c17. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Outbound Prospecting loads about 1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.8k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 97 tokens; SKILL.md has 556 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from cbrock84/headcount at commit 98d1c17, republished under its MIT licence (© cbrock84). 556 words, ~1,017 tokens.
.claude/skills/outbound-prospecting/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Reply rates are set by list quality far more than by copy. Most outbound problems are targeting problems being solved as writing problems.
Define the qualifying signal — the observable fact that means this account probably has the problem you solve, right now. Hiring for a role, using a specific tool, a recent funding or expansion announcement, a public complaint about the thing you fix.
Without a signal you are sending to a demographic, and a demographic has no reason to reply.
Then qualify each account against: do they have the problem, can they afford it, can this person act, and is there a reason for now. Missing the last one is why good-fit prospects go quiet.
Three to five touches over two to three weeks. Each one adds something new — a different angle, a relevant case, a useful resource. Never "just bumping this to the top of your inbox," which communicates that the first message was not worth reading either.
Multi-channel works when the channels are coordinated and the sender is a person. It reads as harassment when the same message arrives everywhere at once.
Stop after the sequence ends. Persistence past that converts nothing and costs reputation.
Domain warmed, authentication configured, volume per mailbox kept low, list validated. A technically broken send makes perfect copy irrelevant, and the damage to a sending domain takes months to repair.
Use a subdomain for outbound so a reputation problem cannot take down your transactional mail.
references/sources.md in this skill lists the outside authorities that settle the questions
here — what each one is authoritative for, and what you may do with it. Check them before
answering on anything they cover, and cite what you used. Most are free to read and not free
to reproduce; the use note on each is binding.
Sequencing: Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, Lemlist, Instantly, and similar.
Contact data: ZoomInfo, Apollo, Clay, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and similar. Every provider's data decays; verify before you send, whichever you buy.
Deliverability: a separate sending domain, plus warmup and monitoring — Instantly, Smartlead, Google Postmaster Tools, and similar.

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Outbound Prospecting is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Outbound Prospecting is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 752 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
