nature-ref-verifierCross-checks each academic reference against several sources field by field, flags conflicts such as year, DOI, author order and page errors, and outputs a structured report.
The skill accepts a whole paper or proposal reference list, a single pasted citation or Zotero item key, or a BibTeX file. Its cheapest first check queries Crossref for every reference that has a DOI: a 404 means the DOI itself is wrong, and a 200 is compared against the title, authors, volume and pages to catch DOIs that point at a different paper. Each reference is then looked up in parallel in Crossref, IEEE Xplore, web search, CNKI or Wanfang for Chinese literature, and a local Zotero library, using the DOI first and title plus author as the fallback.
Findings are graded in three levels. Critical covers wrong or reordered authors, missing authors, large page differences, confused article-number characters, mismatched core title words and DOIs that resolve to other papers. Warning covers a volume year that differs from the DOI year, metadata that changed after Early Access, missing issue numbers, small page drift and publisher name variants, and the third level is informational. Lists longer than 20 are split into groups of 10-15 for parallel subagents.
It suits a final check before submitting a paper or proposal, tracing citation errors a reviewer pointed out, migrating old reference lists and routine Zotero health checks. A common-patterns reference is read only for batch differences, recurring field errors and report wording. The skill text is written in Chinese.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e605b35. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

Reference Verifier loads about 1.4k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.3k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 35 tokens; SKILL.md has 394 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Kim |
Title Case vs Sentence case |
AES" vs "IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems" |
| ⚠️ Check suggested |
| ❌ Needs fix |
