At a glance

Step four of adding a syncable entity in the Twenty server: write create, update and delete action handlers that run workspace migrations against the database.

  • Works in 4 steps: Create Action Handler → Update Action Handler → Delete Action Handler → …
  • Adding create, update or delete action handlers for a new syncable entity
  • SKILL.md covers Quick Start, Step 1: Create Action Handler, Step 2: Update Action Handler and Step 3: Delete Action Handler, plus 4 more sections
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

Contributors to Twenty's own server code are the audience, not people building apps on top of Twenty. The skill describes the runner layer of workspace migrations: three action handler services per entity (create, update, delete), each with two phases, transpiling a universal action into a flat action and then executing the flat action as a database operation.

Handlers are NestJS injectable services using TypeORM repositories and live in the workspace-migration-runner action-handlers folder. Helpers include transpileUniversalActionToFlatAction, insertFlatEntitiesInRepository, executeForMetadata and executeForWorkspaceSchema, plus resolveUniversalUpdateRelationIdentifiersToIds for updates and a base-class transpilation helper for deletes. It assumes the earlier steps for types, cache and builder are finished and must come before integration.

When your agent uses it

  • Adding create, update or delete action handlers for a new syncable entity
  • Converting universal actions into flat actions in the migration runner
  • Executing metadata or workspace schema changes from the runner layer

Example prompts

  • “Write the create action handler for the new view-filter entity in Twenty's migration runner.”
  • “Add the update handler and map universal relation identifiers back to ids.”
  • “Implement the delete handler for my entity using the base class transpilation helper.”

Requirements

  • A checkout of the twentyhq/twenty repository with the earlier syncable-entity steps finished

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Create Action Handler
  2. Update Action Handler
  3. Delete Action Handler
  4. Universal-to-Flat Conversion

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5fcbee6. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are typescript).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Twenty Entity Runner Actions loads about 3.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 100 tokens; SKILL.md has 253 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~100
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~3.1k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 253 words (~3,122 tokens).

“Purpose: Execute migration actions against the database with proper transpilation from universal to flat entities.”
