What it does

This skill lists agent types by family: core development (coder, reviewer, tester, planner, researcher), V3 specialists, swarm coordinators, consensus agents, GitHub agents and SPARC agents, and its description says it manages 60+ types. The commands use npx claude-flow agent to spawn an agent by type and name, list active agents, check status, read metrics, stop an agent and manage a pool by size and type.

A routing table maps numeric task codes to agent sets: 1 for bug fixes, 3 for features, 5 for refactors, 7 for performance and 9 for security. The best practices suggest a hierarchical topology, keeping the agent count under 8 for tight coordination, using specialized agents for specific tasks, and coordinating through memory instead of direct messages. It is meant to be skipped for single-agent work.

When your agent uses it

  • Spawning a team of specialized agents for a multi-agent task
  • Checking the status or metrics of running agents
  • Choosing which agent set fits a bug fix, feature or refactor

Example prompts

  • “Spawn a coder agent named api-coder with claude-flow.”
  • “List the active agents and show the metrics for agent-123.”
  • “Which agents should I use for a security audit task?”

Requirements

  • Node.js with npx, to run claude-flow

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Use hierarchical topology for coordination
  2. Keep agent count under 8 for tight coordination
  3. Use specialized agents for specific tasks
  4. Coordinate via memory, not direct communication

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit de590e1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • npx

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Agent Coordination loads about 519 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 68 tokens; SKILL.md has 129 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~68
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~519

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

When should I use Agent Coordination?

Agent Coordination fits situations like: spawning a team of specialized agents for a multi-agent task; checking the status or metrics of running agents; choosing which agent set fits a bug fix, feature or refactor.

How do I install Agent Coordination in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill agent-coordination -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/agent-coordination in ruvnet/ruflo) into .claude/skills/agent-coordination in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Agent Coordination in Codex?

Run `npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill agent-coordination -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/agent-coordination in ruvnet/ruflo) into .agents/skills/agent-coordination in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Agent Coordination in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill agent-coordination -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/agent-coordination, .gemini/skills/agent-coordination, .github/skills/agent-coordination and .opencode/skills/agent-coordination in your project.

What does Agent Coordination need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Agent Coordination needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npx). Our summary lists: Node.js with npx, to run claude-flow.

Does Agent Coordination access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Agent Coordination safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Agent Coordination use?

Agent Coordination is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Agent Coordination use?

About 519 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Agent Coordination?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Agent Coordination: Paseo Advisor Second Opinion (getpaseo/paseo, 20k stars), O2 Review Loop (openobserve/openobserve, 22k stars), Harness Agent Team Designer (revfactory/harness, 9.1k stars) and ClawTeam Multi-Agent Swarm (win4r/ClawTeam-OpenClaw, 1.5k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Agent Coordination?

ruvnet (a GitHub user) maintains it in ruvnet/ruflo, which has 74,012 GitHub stars. The repository holds 264 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 7, 2026.
