rstudio-update-electronBumps the pinned Electron version across the RStudio repository, updating NEWS.md, package.json, the lockfile and the allowScripts entry.
You give the skill a target Electron version, and it applies that version across the RStudio codebase and verifies the result. It first confirms the current branch is `main` and stops with a warning if it is not, so the work is not based on the wrong commit. It then edits the `### Dependencies` section of `NEWS.md`, adding or setting an Electron line in alphabetical order.
In `src/node/desktop` it runs an npm install with `--save-dev --save-exact` for the new Electron version, so Electron is pinned exactly with no caret or tilde, and checks that both `package.json` and `package-lock.json` carry the new version. The lockfile has to be committed, because a mismatch makes `npm ci` fail in CI. npm does not touch the `allowScripts` key in `package.json` that names the old Electron version, so the agent renames it to the new version by hand.
7 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ed04cb7. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npm, git and npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

RStudio Electron Version Update loads about 964 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 30 tokens; SKILL.md has 480 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 480 words (~964 tokens).

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, RStudio Electron Version Update needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npm, git and npx). Our summary lists: A checkout of the RStudio repository on the main branch; npm.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npm, git and npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
RStudio Electron Version Update has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 964 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
