ouroboros-statusChecks the state of an Ouroboros execution session and measures how far it has drifted from its original seed goal, using the Ouroboros MCP tools.
The skill is a slash command, /ouroboros:ouroboros-status with an optional session ID, that reports on an Ouroboros execution session and can measure goal drift. It first loads the Ouroboros MCP tools, which are often registered as deferred tools and must be discovered before they can be called, and falls back to another path only when the MCP server is genuinely absent. It then takes the session ID from the argument or recent conversation, or asks you, and calls the session status tool.
If you ask about drift with a phrase such as am I drifting, it also calls the drift measurement tool. The reply shows running, completed or failed status and progress, plus the drift report when one was measured, with a warning and suggested actions when drift exceeds 0.3. It ends with a short state breadcrumb pointing to a next step, such as measuring drift or continuing with ooo run.
2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit f587795. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

Ouroboros Session Status loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 15 tokens; SKILL.md has 451 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from Q00/ouroboros at commit f587795, republished under its MIT licence (© Q00). 451 words, ~1,147 tokens.

tool discovery query: "+ouroboros session status"mcp__plugin_ouroboros_ouroboros__ (e.g., ouroboros_session_status, ouroboros_measure_drift). After runtime tool discovery returns, the tools become callable.IMPORTANT: Do NOT skip this step. Do NOT assume MCP tools are unavailable just because they don't appear in your immediate tool list. They are almost always available as deferred tools that need to be loaded first.

Never use a linear Step N of M footer because Ouroboros is an evolutionary loop. When the next action is genuinely a choice, list 2-3 honest options in the next: clause. Ouroboros Session Status fits situations like: checking whether an Ouroboros session is still running or has finished; measuring how far execution has moved from the original goal; deciding whether to correct course before continuing a run.

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Ouroboros Session Status is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The Ouroboros plugin and its MCP server.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Ouroboros Session Status is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
