build-px4-linuxBuild PX4 firmware or SITL natively on a Linux host, in the current checkout, without flashing hardware.
Build Px4 Linux is an agent skill from PX4/PX4-Autopilot. Build PX4 firmware or SITL natively on a Linux host, in the current checkout, without flashing hardware.
Its SKILL.md is about 390 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development. It works with Linux. The repository describes itself as: PX4 Autopilot Software. The licence is BSD-3-Clause.
2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit df387bd. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
makedockerFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use docker, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Build Px4 Linux loads about 385 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 30 tokens; SKILL.md has 188 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

arm-none-eabi-gcc --version must succeed for NuttX targets. If it does
not, the host needs Tools/setup/ubuntu.sh (Ubuntu) — tell the user rather
than installing it, or build in the container:
docker run --rm -w "$PWD" --user "$(id -u):$(id -g)" -v "$PWD:$PWD" px4io/px4-dev:v1.17.0 make <target>.
Tools/docker_run.sh passes -it and fails without a TTY.set -o pipefail
make <target> 2>&1 | tail -n 40Report failures with the output; never treat an existing artifact as
evidence of success. After changing a defconfig or Kconfig option, or
switching toolchains, rm -rf build/<target> first: a stale build dir
recompiles nothing and links mixed objects.
Do not run a NuttX build concurrently with make tests or SITL in the same
tree.
The artifact is build/<target>/<target>.px4 (NuttX) or
build/px4_sitl_default/bin/px4 (SITL). Report the ref, commit, dirty state,
target, and artifact path. Building is not flashing; never upload without a
separate request.

Build Px4 Linux fits situations like: development work in your project.
Run `npx skills add PX4/PX4-Autopilot --skill build-px4-linux -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/build-px4-linux in PX4/PX4-Autopilot) into .claude/skills/build-px4-linux in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add PX4/PX4-Autopilot --skill build-px4-linux -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/build-px4-linux in PX4/PX4-Autopilot) into .agents/skills/build-px4-linux in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add PX4/PX4-Autopilot --skill build-px4-linux -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/build-px4-linux, .gemini/skills/build-px4-linux, .github/skills/build-px4-linux and .opencode/skills/build-px4-linux in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Build Px4 Linux needs the command-line tools its instructions call (make and docker). Our summary lists: Docker.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use docker, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Build Px4 Linux is published under the BSD-3-Clause licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 385 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Build Px4 Linux: Update .NET OS Packages (dotnet/core, 22k stars), Cut Release (jfernandez/bpftop, 2.7k stars), Native Feel Cross Platform Desktop (yetone/native-feel-skill, 1.9k stars) and PlotJuggler 4 Perf Profiling (PlotJuggler/PlotJuggler, 6.2k stars).
