aidd-layoutEnforces a split of UI components into terminal and layout types, with layout components composing others through standard layout tokens, for cleaner structure and fewer re-renders.
Every UI component is classified as one of two types with no overlap. A terminal component renders its own UI (buttons, inputs, cards, text) and holds the CSS for appearance. A layout component renders no UI itself, is composed only of other layout or terminal components, and should rarely need its own CSS, 90% of the time or more, because it uses the standard layout tokens documented in `references/design-tokens.md`.
The reasoning is efficiency: layout components that rarely re-render keep the structure above stable, while state changes and user interactions update at the terminal level. Reactive logic belongs in a layout component only when the layout itself is dynamic, such as tabs, accordions or animations. The skill is written partly in SudoLang and includes a routine to run when creating or changing a UI component that classifies it as terminal or layout.

AIDD UI Layout Patterns loads about 562 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 60 tokens; SKILL.md has 90 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from paralleldrive/aidd at commit 9a7c8e3, republished under its MIT licence (© paralleldrive). 90 words, ~562 tokens.

}Should not need CSS 90% of the time or more — use the standard layout tokens. See design-tokens.
Layout components that rarely re-render are efficient. State changes and user interactions trigger updates at terminal levels; layout structure above stays stable. Avoid putting reactive logic in layout components unless the layout itself is dynamic (tabs, accordions, animations).

Enforces a split of UI components into terminal and layout types, with layout components composing others through standard layout tokens, for cleaner structure and fewer re-renders. Every UI component is classified as one of two types with no overlap. A terminal component renders its own UI (buttons, inputs, cards, text) and holds the CSS for appearance.
AIDD UI Layout Patterns fits situations like: creating a new UI component and deciding what type it is; sorting out spacing and gaps between components; reducing re-renders by moving state down to terminal components.
Run `npx skills add paralleldrive/aidd --skill aidd-layout -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (ai/skills/aidd-layout in paralleldrive/aidd) into .claude/skills/aidd-layout in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add paralleldrive/aidd --skill aidd-layout -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/aidd-layout, .gemini/skills/aidd-layout, .github/skills/aidd-layout and .opencode/skills/aidd-layout in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: AIDD UI Layout Patterns is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
AIDD UI Layout Patterns is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 562 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 640 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
