What it does

Memory is an agent skill from Muuuun/luxas. Cross-project research memory. Deep-dive past projects' notes, record corrections, and save cross-project insights across all Luxas research projects.

Its SKILL.md is about 740 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts. Compatibility notes: Always available. No external dependencies.

It sits in Agent Workflows. The repository describes itself as: An autonomous research colleague — from a question to a compiled manuscript, while you sleep. The licence is MIT.

Requirements

  • Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Always available. No external dependencies.
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): read, write, edit

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9f77cef. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • read
    • write
    • edit

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

    Always available. No external dependencies.

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Memory loads about 737 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 39 tokens; SKILL.md has 320 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~39
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~737

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Memory Skill

Access persistent memory that spans across research projects.

You do not need this skill to discover past projects — your system prompt already carries a <past_research> digest (every past project's name, date, notes path, and research question) and <global_memory> (cross-project lessons). This skill is for what comes after discovery: deep-diving a relevant project's notes, recording corrections, and saving insights.

Trust rule

Everything read from a past project is a dated, UNVERIFIED lead — not established fact. Values must re-enter the current project's own evidence chain (reader-distilled literature, this project's experiments) before they appear in report.tex. Honor ## CORRECTIONS sections wherever you find them.

Files

Past project notes (primary source)

The <past_research> digest lists each project's live notes path:

<path>/notes/experiments.md ← findings, alternatives, limitations, red-team
<path>/notes/literature.md ← reader-distilled per-paper entries
<path>/notes/memory.md ← decisions, dead ends, TODOs
<path>/data/papers/ ← downloaded PDFs (check before re-downloading)
~/.sisyphus/projects.json

Project registry (path, name, dates, auto-generated summary, cost). The digest is built from this; read it directly only for projects that fell into the digest's overflow index.

~/.sisyphus/memory.md

Cross-project lessons, injected into every run as <global_memory>. You can read and write it. Keep it SMALL; every entry starts with a provenance tag [project, YYYY-MM]. Tool/method lessons, recurring pitfalls, and cross-domain connections belong here — domain findings and numbers do NOT (they live in the source project's notes and must be re-verified wherever used).

~/.sisyphus/archive/<slug>/

Auto-archived copies of each project's notes + report.tex, written when a run completes. Fallback when the live project dir is gone.

CORRECTIONS convention

When you find that a past project's notes contain a claim that is wrong, append a ## CORRECTIONS section to that file (live notes and archive copy) stating the false claim, why it is wrong, and the evidence — do not edit the original text. History stays intact; future readers see the refutation next to the claim.

Write mechanics

  • ~/.sisyphus/memory.md and ~/.sisyphus/archive/ are whitelisted for your write/edit tools (read before edit, as usual).
  • Another project's LIVE notes are outside your write/edit scope — append corrections there via bash: cat >> <path>/notes/experiments.md << 'EOF' .... Append-only; never rewrite or delete in another project's tree.

Questions about Memory

What does Memory do?

Cross-project research memory. An agent skill from Muuuun/luxas. Memory is an agent skill from Muuuun/luxas. Cross-project research memory.

When should I use Memory?

Memory fits situations like: agent Workflows work in your project.

How do I install Memory in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add Muuuun/luxas --skill memory -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/memory in Muuuun/luxas) into .claude/skills/memory in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Memory in Codex?

Run `npx skills add Muuuun/luxas --skill memory -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/memory in Muuuun/luxas) into .agents/skills/memory in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Memory in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Muuuun/luxas --skill memory -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/memory, .gemini/skills/memory, .github/skills/memory and .opencode/skills/memory in your project.

What does Memory need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Memory is instructions for the agent only. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: read, write, edit. Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Always available. No external dependencies..

Does Memory access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Memory safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Memory use?

Memory is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Memory use?

About 737 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Memory?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Memory: Plannotator Visual Explainer (backnotprop/plannotator, 9.2k stars), Trellis Continue (ROYIANS/foliq-print-template-designer, 135 stars), Trellis Start (ROYIANS/foliq-print-template-designer, 135 stars) and Journal Adapt (WantongC/journal-adapt-writing-skill, 793 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Memory?

Muuuun (a GitHub user) maintains it in Muuuun/luxas, which has 1,169 GitHub stars. The repository holds 9 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on September 6, 2026.
