What it does

Memory Stewardship is an agent skill from murray17/rovai-ai. Maintain durable collaboration preferences, agreements and lessons when the user asks to remember, correct or stop using them, or current evidence warrants capture. Excludes temporary work, project facts, sensitive data and speculation.

Its SKILL.md is about 320 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 8 other files, including reference files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`, `references/authority-and-safety.md` and `references/content-and-keys.md`).

It sits in Agent Workflows. The repository describes itself as: Desktop and web workspace for lasting teams of coding agents, with shared conversations, task delegation, and collaborative memory. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Asks to remember
  • Stop using them
  • Current evidence warrants capture

Example prompts

  • “/memory-stewardship”

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Read Authority and safety to assess eligibility.
  2. Reduce the candidate to one durable understanding; select its smallest valid Scope and Kind.
  3. Follow Read and write: inspect the complete applicable Scope, then stop, revise or add once.
  4. Before writing, apply Body and retrieval keys.
  5. Report the actual outcome: effective, pending user review, or not written.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e1d6f3e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Memory Stewardship loads about 317 tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 64 tokens; SKILL.md has 120 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~64
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~317
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2.2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Memory stewardship

Preserve only information that will change future collaboration. Current instructions, facts and project authority outrank Memory. Use the user's language for Memory content and reports.

Do not run an end-of-conversation Memory sweep or write several speculative candidates. Deletion, deactivation, restoration and changes outside the Agent's authority require the user's Memory management controls; an opposite statement cannot simulate those actions.
