At a glance

Rules for modeling sloped, twisted and warped timber structures from straight members: ruled surfaces, per-bay framing, plane-cut legs and slab-exact clipping.

  • Modeling a hypar wall or roof from straight timber members
  • SKILL.md covers Overview, Warped surfaces, Cutting rules that only bite… and Members meeting sloped surfaces, plus 1 more section
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md
  • Framing hips, valleys and pitched members that meet at angles

What it does

A set of modeling rules for design briefs that leave the orthogonal grid but still use straight timber stock: pitched members meeting at angles, hips and valleys, hypar walls and roofs and deconstructivist forms. The guiding idea is to build warped and angled things from straight convex pieces cut by planes, so the geometry stays buildable and the overlap check stays valid. The parent project describes an AI agent that turns design briefs into Python code defining a building.

For warped surfaces, the first question is whether the surface is ruled, and a hyperbolic paraboloid is modeled as a bilinear patch between two straight segments, with rulings carrying studs and rafters and cross rulings carrying boards. The rules advise short stock on twisting surfaces, framing fitted per bay, segmented or narrower continuous members, and reporting each member's out-of-plane residual as buildability information. Other rules cover legs cut by two planes and slab-exact clipping with shifted cut planes. The excerpt is cut off in the cutting-rules section.

When your agent uses it

  • Modeling a hypar wall or roof from straight timber members
  • Framing hips, valleys and pitched members that meet at angles
  • Standing a tilted object on a warped surface without bent members
  • Checking how far members deviate from flat on a twisted surface

Example prompts

  • “Model a hypar roof from straight rafters and cross boards, and report the out-of-plane residual per member.”
  • “Frame a twisted timber wall in short stock with joints on the support centre lines.”
  • “Cut the legs of a tilted frame so they stand on a warped surface, using two planes for each leg.”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2c9715b. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 59 tokens; SKILL.md has 699 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~59
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 699 words (~1,172 tokens).

“Leaving the orthogonal grid does not mean leaving straight stock. Almost every rule here is a consequence of one idea: build warped and angled things from straight convex pieces cut by planes, so the geometry stays buildable and the overlap…”

Questions about Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry

What does Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry do?

Rules for modeling sloped, twisted and warped timber structures from straight members: ruled surfaces, per-bay framing, plane-cut legs and slab-exact clipping.

When should I use Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry?

Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry fits situations like: modeling a hypar wall or roof from straight timber members; framing hips, valleys and pitched members that meet at angles; standing a tilted object on a warped surface without bent members; checking how far members deviate from flat on a twisted surface.

How do I install Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add lukapiskorec/craftbot --skill non-orthogonal-geometry -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/non-orthogonal-geometry in lukapiskorec/craftbot) into .claude/skills/non-orthogonal-geometry in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry in Codex?

Run `npx skills add lukapiskorec/craftbot --skill non-orthogonal-geometry -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/non-orthogonal-geometry in lukapiskorec/craftbot) into .agents/skills/non-orthogonal-geometry in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lukapiskorec/craftbot --skill non-orthogonal-geometry -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/non-orthogonal-geometry, .gemini/skills/non-orthogonal-geometry, .github/skills/non-orthogonal-geometry and .opencode/skills/non-orthogonal-geometry in your project.

What does Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry is instructions for the agent only.

Does Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry use?

Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.

How many tokens does Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry use?

About 1.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Non-Orthogonal Timber Geometry: Microsim Generator (dmccreary/ibook-skills, 105 stars), Image to Three.js Model (img2threejs/img2threejs, 18k stars), Posterly (Chenruishuo/posterly, 416 stars) and Day in My Life Agent Film (heygen-com/hyperframes-community-skills, 187 stars).
