trl-fine-tuningTRL: SFT, DPO, GRPO, RLOO reward modeling for LLM RLHF. An agent skill from Luciole-Studio/Misaka-Agent.
Trl Fine Tuning is an agent skill from Luciole-Studio/Misaka-Agent. TRL: SFT, DPO, GRPO, RLOO reward modeling for LLM RLHF.
Its SKILL.md is about 3.4k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 8 other files, including reference files (for example `references/dpo-variants.md`, `references/grpo-training.md` and `references/online-rl.md`).
It sits in AI & LLM Engineering, covering Fine-tuning. The repository describes itself as: A multi-agent research system for the humanities and social sciences. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3bcf7a3. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships script files (Python), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pippythonFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):
github.comhuggingface.coFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Trl Fine Tuning loads about 3.4k tokens when it runs, and up to ~10k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 18 tokens; SKILL.md has 622 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from Luciole-Studio/Misaka-Agent at commit 3bcf7a3, republished under its MIT licence (© Luciole-Studio). 622 words, ~3,374 tokens.

Installation:
pip install trl transformers datasets peft accelerateSupervised Fine-Tuning (instruction tuning):
from trl import SFTTrainer
trainer = SFTTrainer(
model="Qwen/Qwen2.5-0.5B",
train_dataset=dataset, # Prompt-completion pairs
)
trainer.train()DPO (align with preferences):
from trl import DPOTrainer, DPOConfig
config = DPOConfig(output_dir="model-dpo", beta=0.1)
trainer = DPOTrainer(
model=model,
args=config,
train_dataset=preference_dataset, # chosen/rejected pairs
processing_class=tokenizer
)
trainer.train()Complete pipeline from base model to human-aligned model.
Note (TRL 1.x): PPO has been removed from TRL —
PPOTrainer,PPOConfig, andpython -m trl.scripts.ppono longer exist. Use an online-RL trainer TRL still ships: RLOO (RLOOTrainer/trl rloo) is the closest drop-in for a reward-model-driven RLHF pipeline, and GRPO (GRPOTrainer/trl grpo, see Workflow 3) is the memory-efficient alternative. The step below uses RLOO.

Trl Fine Tuning fits situations like: tasks that involve Fine-tuning.
Run `npx skills add Luciole-Studio/Misaka-Agent --skill trl-fine-tuning -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (misaka/core/skills/assets/optional/mlops/training/trl-fine-tuning in Luciole-Studio/Misaka-Agent) into .claude/skills/trl-fine-tuning in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Luciole-Studio/Misaka-Agent --skill trl-fine-tuning -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Trl Fine Tuning needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (pip and python). Our summary lists: Python 3.
SKILL.md names 2 domains. As links in the text: github.com and huggingface.co. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Trl Fine Tuning is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 3.4k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 13k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 7k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
