db-migrationsCovers schema conventions and safe rollout for Drizzle database migrations: online indexes, backfills, idempotent SQL and fixing regeneration or rebase conflicts.
This guide starts with schema conventions to apply before generating any migration. Columns whose value set keeps growing should be plain text typed with a TypeScript union instead of database enums, so adding a value needs no migration, and the Drizzle enum option is avoided for the same reason. Shared domain constants stay out of schema files and live in the shared types package. Prefixed IDs are reserved for rows addressed one at a time, such as in URLs or API arguments, while child tables fetched in bulk for their parent use a plain uuid.
The skill also covers the rollout topics named in its description: online index creation, backfills, idempotent SQL, and resolving conflicts when migrations are regenerated or a branch is rebased. Each new enum literal would otherwise need an ALTER TYPE migration, which is the reason given for the text-column approach.
3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 35d442e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
bunbunxFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use bunx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Drizzle Migration Rollout loads about 3.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 35 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,420 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
cess tooling; never read secret-bearing `.env` files directly.set -a && source .env && set +a && bun -e 'Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,420 words (~3,464 tokens).
“Apply these before generating any migration — they change what the schema file looks like, not just the SQL.”

Drizzle Migration Rollout fits situations like: adding a column or table before generating a Drizzle migration; rolling out an index or backfill without locking a busy table; resolving migration conflicts after a rebase or regeneration.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill db-migrations -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/db-migrations in lobehub/lobehub) into .claude/skills/db-migrations in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill db-migrations -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/db-migrations in lobehub/lobehub) into .agents/skills/db-migrations in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill db-migrations -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/db-migrations, .gemini/skills/db-migrations, .github/skills/db-migrations and .opencode/skills/db-migrations in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Drizzle Migration Rollout needs the command-line tools its instructions call (bun and bunx). Our summary lists: A Drizzle project with a database schema folder and a migrations folder.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Drizzle Migration Rollout has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 3.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 14k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
