add-setting-envAdds a server-side environment variable that sets the default for a user setting in LobeHub, wired from the env schema through server config to the user store and docs.
This skill walks through making a user setting configurable from the server by an environment variable. Precedence is the user's own value first, then the server environment variable, then the hardcoded default. The agent defines the variable in a domain file under `packages/env/src/`, using `createEnv` from `@t3-oss/env-core` with zod validation.
For a new domain it also updates the `GlobalServerConfig` type in `packages/types/src/serverConfig.ts`, assembles the value in `apps/server/src/globalConfig/index.ts` and merges it into the user store in `src/store/user/slices/common/action.ts`. It then adds a commented entry to `.env.example` and documents the variable in the English and Chinese self-hosting environment variable pages, with `AI_IMAGE_DEFAULT_IMAGE_NUM` as the worked example. Reusing existing types from `packages/types/src/user/settings` is preferred.
6 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 6aaeeee. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are typescript and bash).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Add Server Env Var for User Setting loads about 644 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 25 tokens; SKILL.md has 87 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 87 words (~644 tokens).
“Add server-side environment variables to configure default values for user settings.”

This skill walks through making a user setting configurable from the server by an environment variable. Precedence is the user's own value first, then the server environment variable, then the hardcoded default.
Add Server Env Var for User Setting fits situations like: letting server admins set a default value for a user setting through an env var; documenting a new environment variable for self-hosting; checking that a default flows from the env schema to the user store.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill add-setting-env -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/add-setting-env in lobehub/lobehub) into .claude/skills/add-setting-env in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill add-setting-env -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/add-setting-env in lobehub/lobehub) into .agents/skills/add-setting-env in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill add-setting-env -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/add-setting-env, .gemini/skills/add-setting-env, .github/skills/add-setting-env and .opencode/skills/add-setting-env in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Add Server Env Var for User Setting is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The LobeHub repository.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Add Server Env Var for User Setting has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 644 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
