What it does

Jobflow is an agent skill from laok775/jobflow-for-codex. Use when helping a user run, initialize, inspect, or automate a browser-assisted job-search workflow with local screening rules, JSONL application ledger, message review, follow-up tracking, and daily reports.

Its SKILL.md is about 1.1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 21 other files, including scripts and reference files (for example `references/message-rules.md`, `references/platform-boss.md` and `references/platform-liepin.md`).

It sits in Business, Finance & HR, covering Job search and resumes. The repository describes itself as: JobFlow for Codex: a local job-search workflow plugin for Codex. The licence is MIT.

  • “/jobflow”

Requirements

  • Python 3

Workflow steps

9 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Read local profile, rules, and ledger.
  2. Confirm login state for each platform.
  3. Review messages and classify them.
  4. Update the ledger or alert the user for message items.
  5. Screen candidate jobs against rules.
  6. Contact/apply only after reviewing details.
  7. Confirm visible success state.
  8. Append or update ledger.
  9. Summarize counts, blockers, and user-required actions.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit f80b4a4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 8 files in scripts/ (Python, from the files we listed), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • python

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Jobflow loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.8k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 54 tokens; SKILL.md has 394 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~54
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.1k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2.8k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

JobFlow

JobFlow is a local job-search workflow for Codex. Use it when the user wants help finding jobs, screening roles, contacting recruiters, reviewing recruiter messages, sending resumes when clearly requested, maintaining an application ledger, setting up recurring job-search automations, or generating job-search reports.

Core Rules

  • Treat this as an assistant workflow, not an unattended mass-application bot.
  • Keep private user data in the user's workspace, never inside this plugin.
  • Read the user's user_profile.yaml, screening_rules.md, and applications.jsonl before making job-search decisions.
  • Confirm platform login before acting on a platform.
  • Review messages before new applications.
  • Do not bypass CAPTCHA, anti-bot checks, paywalls, or safety interstitials.
  • Do not invent success. Write a ledger row only after visible platform success state.
  • Do not send custom replies to complex recruiter messages without user approval.
  • Send a resume only when the user configured a resume path and the recruiter clearly requested it.

References

Load only the references needed for the current task:

  • BOSS Direct browser workflow: references/platform-boss.md
  • Liepin browser workflow: references/platform-liepin.md
  • Recruiter message handling: references/message-rules.md
  • Screening rules design: references/screening-rules-guide.md
  • Ledger schema and migration: templates/schema-v0.2.md

Local Data Layout

Default workspace layout:

text
data/job_search/
  user_profile.yaml
  screening_rules.md
  applications.jsonl
  applications.example.jsonl
  reports/

Use scripts from scripts/ for deterministic local work:

bash
python skills/jobflow/scripts/init_jobflow.py --workspace <workspace>
python skills/jobflow/scripts/validate_ledger.py --ledger <workspace>/data/job_search/applications.jsonl
python skills/jobflow/scripts/summarize_day.py --ledger <workspace>/data/job_search/applications.jsonl --date YYYY-MM-DD
python skills/jobflow/scripts/check_targets.py --ledger <workspace>/data/job_search/applications.jsonl --date YYYY-MM-DD --boss 5 --liepin 5
python skills/jobflow/scripts/build_automation_prompt.py --workspace <workspace>
python skills/jobflow/scripts/migrate_ledger.py --ledger <workspace>/data/job_search/applications.jsonl --output <workspace>/data/job_search/applications.v0.2.jsonl
python skills/jobflow/scripts/upsert_ledger.py --ledger <workspace>/data/job_search/applications.jsonl --record-file <private-record.json>

validate_ledger.py --strict treats duplicate IDs, duplicate URLs, unknown aliases, and missing recommended fields as failures. The default mode reports those conditions as warnings while still failing on malformed required data.

Status Model

Use canonical status values in shared tooling:

  • contacted
  • resume_sent
  • interviewed
  • not_suitable
  • needs_user_action
  • needs_review
  • recruiter_replied
  • interview_scheduled
  • rejected
  • withdrawn
  • offer
  • no_response

Localized labels can be shown in reports, but scripts should use canonical values for portability.

Older Chinese and platform-specific values are normalized by migrate_ledger.py. The original value is retained in a legacy_* field when it changes.

Standard Run Order

Report Shape

Reports should include:

  • New contacted jobs by platform.
  • Message review count.
  • Status updates.
  • Resume sends.
  • User-action-required messages with content.
  • Follow-ups due.
  • Screening-rule improvement notes.
  • Automation health and slot target status.
  • Validation warnings and migration guidance.

Private records must remain in the user's workspace and must never be committed to this repository.
