linearInteract with Linear for issue tracking — search, create, sync, and link issues to vault notes.
Linear is an agent skill from kv0906/pm-kit. Interact with Linear for issue tracking — search, create, sync, and link issues to vault notes. Use when the user says "/linear", "linear issues", "sync linear", "create issue", "link to linear", "check linear", "what's assigned to me", "my linear tasks", mentions Linear in any project management context, or wants to bridge their vault notes with Linear issue tracking. Also triggers when user needs to set up or connect Linear MCP.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.9k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Productivity & Automation, covering Task management and Project management. It works with Linear and Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: AI-augmented PM workspace for Coding Agents — daily standups, decisions, blockers, docs, and sprint reviews as markdown skills. The licence is MIT.
2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2cb5d9f. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadWriteEditBashGlobGrepTaskCreateTaskUpdateTaskListTaskGet…and 1 more on the same allowed-tools line.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
claudevaultFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
mcp.linear.appFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Linear loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 110 tokens; SKILL.md has 712 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Read, Write, Edit, Bash, Glob, Grep, TaskCreate, TaskUpdate, TaskList, TaskGet, mcp__linear-server__Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from kv0906/pm-kit at commit 2cb5d9f, republished under its MIT licence (© kv0906). 712 words, ~1,868 tokens.

| Input starts with | Sub-command | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
setup | Setup | Guide MCP connection + auth |
sync | Sync | Pull recent updates into vault |
create | Create | Create Linear issue from vault context |

Before any sub-command (except setup), verify Linear MCP is available:
mcp__linear-server__* tools are not available:Linear MCP is not connected yet.
Run `/linear setup` to connect — it takes about 30 seconds. Then stop. Don't attempt other operations without a working connection.
Guide the user through connecting Linear's remote MCP server to Claude Code.
## Linear MCP Setup
Linear's MCP server is hosted by Linear — no local install needed.
### Step 1: Add the server
Run this in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http linear-server https://mcp.linear.app/mcp
### Step 2: Authenticate
In a Claude Code session, run:
/mcp
Then follow the OAuth flow — it'll open your browser to authorize Linear access.
### Step 3: Verify
Once authenticated, try:
/linear
You should see your recent Linear activity. After presenting, ask if the user wants help running these commands now.
If the user confirms, run the claude mcp add command via Bash, then inform them they need to run /mcp themselves (it requires interactive browser auth that can't be automated).
Fetch recent Linear activity and optionally write it into today's daily note.

Linear fits situations like: the user says /linear; whats assigned to me; my linear tasks; mentions Linear in any project management context.
Run `npx skills add kv0906/pm-kit --skill linear -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/linear in kv0906/pm-kit) into .claude/skills/linear in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add kv0906/pm-kit --skill linear -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/linear in kv0906/pm-kit) into .agents/skills/linear in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add kv0906/pm-kit --skill linear -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/linear, .gemini/skills/linear, .github/skills/linear and .opencode/skills/linear in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Linear needs the command-line tools its instructions call (claude and vault). Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Write, Edit, Bash, Glob, Grep, TaskCreate, TaskUpdate, TaskList, TaskGet, mcp__linear-server__*.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: mcp.linear.app; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Linear is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.9k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
