At a glance

Installs and configures KubeSphere's WizTelemetry Data Pipeline, built on Vector, which collects and routes logs, audit events, events and notifications to OpenSearch.

  • Works in 3 steps: Get Available Clusters and Confirm Target → Get OpenSearch Endpoint and Credentials… → Get Latest Vector Version (if not…
  • Installing the WizTelemetry Data Pipeline before logging or auditing extensions
  • SKILL.md covers Overview, When to Use, Installation and Configuration Parameters, plus 3 more sections
  • Calls kubectl; needs OPENSEARCH_PASSWORD

What it does

This skill covers the WizTelemetry Data Pipeline extension for KubeSphere, which is based on the Vector tool and collects, transforms and routes observability data. Other WizTelemetry extensions for logging, auditing, events and notifications depend on it. The skill supports setting up collection for those data types, configuring Vector sinks with OpenSearch as the target, and managing the Vector agent components.

The install procedure is a strict sequence. First the agent lists the available clusters and confirms the targets with you unless you named them. Next it has to obtain the OpenSearch endpoint URL and credentials, a username that defaults to admin plus a password, and it does not continue until both are supplied. Then it queries the newest Vector extension version. Only after those steps does it write an InstallPlan, whose name must be exactly `vector`.

When your agent uses it

  • Installing the WizTelemetry Data Pipeline before logging or auditing extensions
  • Pointing Vector at an OpenSearch endpoint as its sink
  • Managing the Vector agent components on selected clusters

Example prompts

  • “Install the KubeSphere data pipeline extension on the host and dev clusters.”
  • “Configure Vector to send collected logs to our OpenSearch endpoint.”
  • “Which extensions depend on the WizTelemetry Data Pipeline?”

Requirements

  • A reachable OpenSearch endpoint with its credentials
  • kubectl access to a KubeSphere cluster

Workflow steps

3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Get Available Clusters and Confirm Target
  2. Get OpenSearch Endpoint and Credentials (MUST DO)
  3. Get Latest Vector Version (if not provided by user)

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 04a29b5. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • kubectl

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • vector.dev

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • OPENSEARCH_PASSWORD

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

KubeSphere WizTelemetry Data Pipeline loads about 2.6k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 691 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~61
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~2.6k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 691 words (~2,634 tokens).

“WizTelemetry Data Pipeline is an extension based on vector (https://vector.dev/) that provides the ability to collect, transform, and route observability data. It is a core dependency for other WizTelemetry extensions like Logging, Auditing, Events, and Notification.”
