kubesphere-gateway-apiManages the Traefik-based Kubernetes Gateway API extension in KubeSphere: install, uninstall, status checks, GatewayProxy inspection and troubleshooting.
This skill manages external access in KubeSphere through the Kubernetes Gateway API, with Traefik as the proxy. It is the newer of two gateway skills; the older ingress-nginx based one, with its own Gateway CRD, belongs to the separate `kubesphere-gateway` skill, and the text includes a side-by-side table of proxy, API standard, core resources and lifecycle management.
GatewayProxy resources come in three tiers, cluster, workspace and project, each with its own name pattern in the `kubesphere-controls-system` namespace. Each GatewayProxy deploys a Traefik instance and creates a GatewayClass automatically, and users then create standard Gateway resources that point at that class. The extension has three components: a backend extension API server on the host cluster, a backend agent on every cluster and a React front end served through Nginx.
Covered tasks are installation, uninstallation, status checks, GatewayProxy status inspection and troubleshooting, supported by three shell scripts: `check-status.sh`, `generate-installplan.sh` and `verify-uninstall.sh`.
3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 04a29b5. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 3 files in scripts/ (Shell), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
kubectlhelmFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use kubectl and helm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
KubeSphere Gateway API Extension loads about 3.7k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 118 tokens; SKILL.md has 764 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 764 words (~3,740 tokens).
“Provides external access management using Kubernetes Gateway API with Traefik as the underlying proxy implementation. Supports three-tier gatewayproxy management:”

Manages the Traefik-based Kubernetes Gateway API extension in KubeSphere: install, uninstall, status checks, GatewayProxy inspection and troubleshooting. It is the newer of two gateway skills; the older ingress-nginx based one, with its own Gateway CRD, belongs to the separate `kubesphere-gateway` skill, and the text includes a side-by-side table of proxy, API standard, core resources and lifecycle management.
KubeSphere Gateway API Extension fits situations like: installing the Traefik-based Gateway API extension in KubeSphere; inspecting the status of a GatewayProxy at cluster, workspace or project level; choosing between the Gateway API extension and the older ingress-nginx gateway; verifying that an uninstall removed all gateway resources.
Run `npx skills add kubesphere/kubesphere --skill kubesphere-gateway-api -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/kubesphere-gateway-api in kubesphere/kubesphere) into .claude/skills/kubesphere-gateway-api in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add kubesphere/kubesphere --skill kubesphere-gateway-api -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/kubesphere-gateway-api in kubesphere/kubesphere) into .agents/skills/kubesphere-gateway-api in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add kubesphere/kubesphere --skill kubesphere-gateway-api -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/kubesphere-gateway-api, .gemini/skills/kubesphere-gateway-api, .github/skills/kubesphere-gateway-api and .opencode/skills/kubesphere-gateway-api in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, KubeSphere Gateway API Extension needs a shell for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (kubectl and helm). Our summary lists: A running KubeSphere cluster.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
KubeSphere Gateway API Extension has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 3.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 15k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
