Help someone start with Glif. An agent skill from glifxyz/glif-mcp-server.

  • Works in 6 steps: Check the connection. If Glif's tools… → Explain what costs credits. Only… → If the user asks which account or how… → …
  • The user asks what Glif is
  • Calls claude; reaches glif.app
  • How to set it up

What it does

Get Started is an agent skill from glifxyz/glif-mcp-server. Help someone start with Glif. Explain how it connects, check the connection and credits for free, and suggest what to make first. Use when the user asks what Glif is, how to set it up, whether it's connected, which account is connected, how many credits they have, or what Glif can do. Never starts generation.

Its SKILL.md is about 720 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`). Compatibility notes: Requires the Glif MCP server at https://glif.app/api/mcp.

It sits in Agent Workflows, covering MCP servers. It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: Glif's hosted MCP server, plugin and skills for creating images, video and audio. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and more. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • The user asks what Glif is
  • How to set it up
  • Whether its connected
  • Which account is connected

Example prompts

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 54b6103. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • claude

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • glif.app

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

Requires the Glif MCP server at https://glif.app/api/mcp.

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Get Started loads about 716 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 81 tokens; SKILL.md has 375 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~81
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~716

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

compatibility
Requires the Glif MCP server at https://glif.app/api/mcp.

Help the user get oriented. The user's explicit instructions come first, within host safety rules.

  1. Check the connection. If Glif's tools are available, call whoami; it's free and proves the connection works. If they're missing, help the user connect:
    • Claude Code: claude plugin marketplace add glifxyz/glif-mcp-server, then claude plugin install glif@glif, then /mcp to sign in.
    • Any other client: add the remote MCP server https://glif.app/api/mcp and sign in when the browser opens. https://glif.app/mcp has steps for each client. Never ask for passwords, API keys or sign-in codes in chat. A free account can be created at https://glif.app.
  2. Explain what costs credits. Only compose_project spends the account's Glif credits. Connecting, browsing, choosing a reference and checking status are free. Video uses more credits than images. Glif decides the real cost when it runs. Plans and credits are managed at https://glif.app/pricing; never buy or upgrade in chat.
  3. If the user asks which account or how many credits, report only the whoami fields they asked about, such as username, available credits or recent spend.
  4. To browse, call list_projects, then get_project for the one they pick. Show media links from the result. If the host renders Glif's viewer, view_media can reopen saved media in it.
  5. Explain how continuity works:
    • A project keeps its messages and media. Passing its project_id to compose_project adds new work to the same project.
    • A new reference file goes through upload_file. Its returned fileUrl goes in compose_project's attachments.
    • Project IDs, job IDs, asset IDs and media URLs are different values. Do not swap them.
  6. End with a choice that fits what the user is doing. Examples:
    • In a codebase: "add a hero image and texture to this page", "make a logo and favicon set", "record a 30-second demo of this app", "make App Store screenshots", "add UI sounds".
    • Anywhere: "make a YouTube thumbnail", "remove the background from this image", "create a character sheet", "make an explainer video", "generate a voiceover", "plan an ad campaign", "show my recent projects". Or show a draft brief for review.
Show full SKILL.md (34 more words)Show less

Onboarding never calls compose_project, uploads files, or changes settings. Browsing, picking a reference or accepting a suggestion is not a request to generate. Show draft prompts as text and wait for an explicit "go".
