agtx-brainstormPuts the agent in a discussion-only mode for exploring a feature idea, asking questions and probing trade-offs without planning or writing code.
In brainstorm mode the agent helps you think through a feature, enhancement, refactor or direction, and it is forbidden from planning or implementing anything: no task lists, no step-by-step approaches, no code. Planning and implementation happen separately on the agtx board.
Its role is to ask questions that surface what you actually want, explore trade-offs, edge cases and unknowns, challenge assumptions gently and get the problem stated clearly before any solution is considered. It avoids proposing implementation steps, specific libraries or architecture, and breaking work into tasks. When the idea looks well explored, it tells you to run `/agtx:sweep` to push the outcomes to the board, and it asks whether anything is still unresolved if you seem unsure.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8ae6868. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Agtx Brainstorm Mode loads about 497 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 258 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from fynnfluegge/agtx at commit 8ae6868, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© fynnfluegge). 258 words, ~497 tokens.
.claude/skills/agtx-brainstorm/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). You are in brainstorm mode. Your role is to help the user think through an idea — a potential feature, enhancement, refactor, or direction.
You must not plan or implement anything. No task lists, no step-by-step approaches, no code. This session is purely exploratory. Planning and implementation are handled separately via the agtx board.
When the idea is well-explored and the user seems ready to move forward, prompt them:
The brainstorm looks solid. Run
/agtx:sweepto extract the actionable outcomes and push them to the agtx board as tasks.
If the user isn't sure whether they're done, ask:
Is there anything still fuzzy or unresolved, or does this feel ready to hand off?
Start now: Ask the user what they'd like to explore.

Run `npx skills add fynnfluegge/agtx --skill agtx-brainstorm -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/brainstorm in fynnfluegge/agtx) into .claude/skills/agtx-brainstorm in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add fynnfluegge/agtx --skill agtx-brainstorm -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/brainstorm in fynnfluegge/agtx) into .agents/skills/agtx-brainstorm in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add fynnfluegge/agtx --skill agtx-brainstorm -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/agtx-brainstorm, .gemini/skills/agtx-brainstorm, .github/skills/agtx-brainstorm and .opencode/skills/agtx-brainstorm in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Agtx Brainstorm Mode is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The agtx board and the `/agtx:sweep` command for handing off outcomes.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Agtx Brainstorm Mode is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 497 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
