What it does

Ambient Context Weekly Review is an agent skill from dragthelake/ambient-context. Use when the user asks for a weekly review, a week note, what happened this week, or what they spent the week on. Reads the last seven Ambient Context summaries and writes the review.

Its SKILL.md is about 360 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Knowledge Management, covering Journaling and reflection. The repository describes itself as: A menu bar app that keeps a written record of what you worked on. The licence is Apache-2.0.

When your agent uses it

  • The user asks for a weekly review
  • What happened this week
  • What they spent the week on

Example prompts

  • “/ambient-context-weekly-review”

Workflow steps

3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. list_days. Take the last seven calendar days that have a summary. If fewer than three do, say so and offer to run the review on what exists.
  2. read_summary for each, oldest first. Seven summaries are the whole input; do not open day files unless a summary names a thread you cannot…
  3. read_kb with file set to threads.md for the most recent day, to see which threads are still open.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 7e57155. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Ambient Context Weekly Review loads about 362 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 53 tokens; SKILL.md has 190 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~53
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~362

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Weekly review

Follow the ambient-context skill's conventions.

Steps

  1. list_days. Take the last seven calendar days that have a summary. If fewer than three do, say so and offer to run the review on what exists.
  2. read_summary for each, oldest first. Seven summaries are the whole input; do not open day files unless a summary names a thread you cannot place.
  3. read_kb with file set to threads.md for the most recent day, to see which threads are still open.

Reply

A week note, under 400 words, with these headings:

  • The week in three lines. What it was mostly about.
  • By project. One paragraph each, largest first. What moved, what shipped, what stalled.
  • Stalled. Threads that appear early in the week and never resolve. Name the last day each was touched.
  • Patterns. Apps or sites that took more time than the work seemed to need; days that went to meetings or messages rather than the plan. State what the record shows and leave the judgement to the user.
  • Next week. Up to three suggestions, each traceable to a thread above.

Cite days by date. Do not quote message text.
