open-gui-bootstrapInstalls, configures and runs OpenGUI's backend and Android client from a plain-language request, running the repo's own setup scripts and asking the user only for physical phone steps or secrets.
The skill treats the current coding agent as the installer and operator rather than an instructor: it runs the repository's actual scripts, such as server/start.sh, client/start.sh and client/gradlew, instead of inventing a custom setup flow, and defaults to doing the work directly rather than explaining how. It is meant to accept requests phrased in plain language, like asking to bootstrap OpenGUI with a specific planning model and a specific vision-language model for the phone-use agent, without requiring the user to know environment variable names or command order.
The user is only asked for things the agent cannot do itself: physical taps on the phone, OS-level permission dialogs, secrets, or other Android device interaction. The first step always runs a bundled preflight.sh script, whose result tells the agent whether the checkout contains the runnable backend and client at all, continuing with setup only when the checkout is confirmed complete, and stopping to say so clearly when it is not. Each major setup step is verified before the skill claims the system is ready.
8 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ad6d57f. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Shell), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
adbFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
VLM_API_KEYFEISHU_APP_SECRETTELEGRAM_BOT_TOKENFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
OpenGUI Bootstrap loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 73 tokens; SKILL.md has 968 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
- creates `.env` from `.env.example` on first run and exitsIf the first run exits after creating `.env`, ask only for the values still missing. With the repository defaults, ask f- "The backend script created `.env` and stopped. Add `VLM_API_KEY` to continue with the default model settings."Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 968 words (~1,725 tokens).
“Launch OpenGUI from a plain-language request.”

OpenGUI Bootstrap fits situations like: setting up OpenGUI's backend and Android client from a plain-language request; configuring OpenGUI with specific planning and vision-language model APIs; debugging why an OpenGUI checkout won't start.
Run `npx skills add Core-Mate/OpenGUI --skill open-gui-bootstrap -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/open-gui-bootstrap in Core-Mate/OpenGUI) into .claude/skills/open-gui-bootstrap in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Core-Mate/OpenGUI --skill open-gui-bootstrap -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/open-gui-bootstrap, .gemini/skills/open-gui-bootstrap, .github/skills/open-gui-bootstrap and .opencode/skills/open-gui-bootstrap in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, OpenGUI Bootstrap needs a shell for the scripts in its folder, the command-line tools its instructions call (adb) and credentials named VLM_API_KEY, FEISHU_APP_SECRET and TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN. Our summary lists: The OpenGUI repository checkout with its server and client folders; Android device or emulator access.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
OpenGUI Bootstrap has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 967 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
