Osdi Submission is an agent skill from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills. Use when running the final pre-upload audit of an OSDI submission on HotCRP — the December registration and full-paper deadlines at 2:59 pm PST, the 12-page/no-appendix check, institution-level double-blind rules, the renamed-system requirement, track choice, and the eight-submission author cap.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.6k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
The repository describes itself as: Journal-specific Claude Code/Codex skill packs covering mainstream journals — AER, QJE, Nature, Cell, 管理世界, 经济研究 & 200+ more — your fast track to getting published. | 覆盖主流期刊的… The licence is MIT.
2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 932eb23. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pdftotextFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Osdi Submission loads about 1.6k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 78 tokens; SKILL.md has 760 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills at commit 932eb23, republished under its MIT licence (© brycewang-stanford). 760 words, ~1,624 tokens.
.claude/skills/osdi-submission/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Run this audit before touching the HotCRP upload form. Every rule below is the OSDI
'26 cycle as read on 2026-07-08 (osdi26.usenix.hotcrp.com plus the CFP); treat the
numbers as one year's snapshot and reopen the current CFP before acting.
OSDI '26 split the deadline in two, and both were 2:59 pm PST — USENIX's local afternoon convention, not AoE midnight:
Convert 2:59 pm PST to every coauthor's time zone in writing. It is 10:59 pm in London, 6:59 am the next day in Beijing — the single most common OSDI logistics error is an AoE reflex from ML venues.
| Check | OSDI '26 rule |
|---|---|
| Body length | ≤ 12 pages, single-spaced, including figures and tables |
| References | Unlimited extra pages |
| Appendices | Forbidden in the submission — no supplementary material |
| Type/layout | 10-pt Times-like on 12-pt leading, two columns, 7"×9" text block |
| Length norm | "The right length" — reviewers told to down-rank padded papers |
| Per-author load | At most eight submissions per author across the PC's pile |
The 12-page count including figures is stricter than it sounds: a figure-heavy systems
paper loses two pages to its own graphs. Compress via osdi-writing-style's passes,
never via geometry or font tampering.
Beyond standard double-blind hygiene, OSDI '26 imposed two requirements authors from other venues miss:
# Mechanical sweep on the exact PDF you will upload
pdftotext paper.pdf - | grep -nEi 'OLDNAME|github\.com|gitlab|acknowledg|grant' | head
pdfinfo paper.pdf | grep -Ei 'author|creator|producer' # metadata identity
pdffonts paper.pdf | head # embedded, expected fonts
# figures often embed usernames in paths: check figure sources too
grep -rnEi 'home/|Users/|OLDNAME' figures/ *.tex | headSelf-citations stay, in third person, treated as someone else's work
(osdi-related-work has the full protocol). Program co-chair conflicts are handled
by recusal on the PC side — your job is accurate conflict declaration in HotCRP, not
creative omission.
osdi-topic-selection).The form is read before the PDF and drives assignment; draft it before deadline day:
OSDI '26 had no author-response period. There is no later moment to explain that the missing baseline exists, that the leak was an oversight, or that page 13 was an accident. The submission as uploaded is the entire conversation until notification — which is also why the last step is non-negotiable: re-download the PDF from HotCRP and read it cold, checking that what reviewers will open is what you think you sent.

Run `npx skills add brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills --skill osdi-submission -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (OSDI-Skills/skills/osdi-submission in brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills) into .claude/skills/osdi-submission in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills --skill osdi-submission -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (OSDI-Skills/skills/osdi-submission in brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills) into .agents/skills/osdi-submission in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills --skill osdi-submission -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/osdi-submission, .gemini/skills/osdi-submission, .github/skills/osdi-submission and .opencode/skills/osdi-submission in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Osdi Submission needs the command-line tools its instructions call (pdftotext).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Osdi Submission is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.6k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
