Iros Writing Style is an agent skill from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills. Use when revising an IROS paper for a task-first opening, an integrated-system narrative, the references-counted-in page budget with no supplementary PDF, double-anonymous wording, demo-speak-to-numbers rewrites, and figure-first structure that carries the argument in the body for embodied-systems reviewers.
Its SKILL.md is about 970 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Writing & Content, covering Brand voice and tone. The repository describes itself as: Journal-specific Claude Code/Codex skill packs covering mainstream journals — AER, QJE, Nature, Cell, 管理世界, 经济研究 & 200+ more — your fast track to getting published. | 覆盖主流期刊的… The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 932eb23. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Iros Writing Style loads about 972 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 82 tokens; SKILL.md has 419 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/iros-writing-style/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Use this when revising the main paper. An IROS paper has to make a reviewer picture the robot, the task, and the physical constraint quickly, then trust that the system runs — all inside a page budget that counts references and offers no appendix escape hatch.
| Draft pattern | IROS-safe rewrite |
|---|---|
| "Our system robustly opens doors." | "Succeeds on 108/120 trials across 15 unseen doors (Wilson 95% CI ...)." |
| "Real-time performance." | "Runs the full loop at 18 Hz within a 30 W onboard budget." |
| "Outperforms the baseline." | "Reduces trajectory error by X on the same platform and route." |
| "Works in the real world." | "Sim-to-real gap of Y points; failures categorized in Table II." |
A draft with a sprawling related-work section, six figures, and a full appendix of derivations: keep the system diagram and the two decision-critical results figures, fold related work into per-system contrasts, and inline only the equations the reviewer must see — the rest is cut, not deferred, because there is no appendix PDF. The test of a good cut: a reviewer reconstructs the system and believes the evidence from the body alone.
First-page checklist:
[ ] robot + task + physical constraint stated in the first paragraph
[ ] system diagram with real sensor/actuator interfaces as the hero figure
[ ] each claim carries a number (Hz, watts, trials, error, gap)
[ ] references budgeted inside the page limit
[ ] no dependence on a non-existent supplement
[ ] anonymity clean in text, figures, and video captions[Writing diagnosis] task-clear / demo-speak / system-vague / over-budget
[First-page fix] <new task-and-constraint opening>
[Claim discipline] <claim -> number/figure/trial>
[Compression cuts] <cut, not deferred — no appendix>
[Anonymity edits] <phrases/figures/video to fix>© brycewang-stanford, MIT. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Iros Writing Style is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Iros Writing Style is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 972 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
