cscw-writing-styleA skill your agent uses when drafting or revising CSCW prose — group-level framing, concepts a field can reuse, participant voice handled with care, theory that earns its keep, and length discipline…
Cscw Writing Style is an agent skill from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills. Use when drafting or revising CSCW prose — group-level framing, concepts a field can reuse, participant voice handled with care, theory that earns its keep, and length discipline under the 5,000-12,000-word scrutiny band where contribution is weighed against every page.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.3k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Writing & Content, covering Brand voice and tone. The repository describes itself as: Journal-specific Claude Code/Codex skill packs covering mainstream journals — AER, QJE, Nature, Cell, 管理世界, 经济研究 & 200+ more — your fast track to getting published. | 覆盖主流期刊的… The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 932eb23. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Cscw Writing Style loads about 1.3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 72 tokens; SKILL.md has 595 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills at commit 932eb23, republished under its MIT licence (© brycewang-stanford). 595 words, ~1,253 tokens.
.claude/skills/cscw-writing-style/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).A CSCW paper is judged by readers from several intellectual traditions at once — ethnographers, statisticians, system builders, social theorists — inside a journal process where the same reviewers may read the paper twice. The prose must therefore do two unusual things: make each tradition's part legible to the others, and hold up under a second, more skeptical read during Revise and Resubmit.
CSCW imposes no formal page limit. The 2026-cycle CFP instead put weight on a band: papers under roughly 5,000 words or over roughly 12,000 words attract extra scrutiny, and a paper whose length is incommensurate with its contribution can be desk rejected. Treat length as a claim you are making: every additional section asserts that the contribution needs it. Practical calibration:
The single most common style failure at this venue is drift back to the individual user. Audit every claim sentence:
| Drifted (individual) | Anchored (collective) |
|---|---|
| "Users struggled to trust the bot's suggestions" | "Teams routed the bot's suggestions through a senior member before acting on them" |
| "Participants felt burnout" | "The moderation team rotated exposure to harmful content to distribute burnout" |
| "People adopted the feature" | "The community renegotiated its norms around what the feature made visible" |
| "The tool improved efficiency" | "The tool redistributed articulation work from editors to contributors" |
If a finding cannot be written in the right-hand register, either the analysis
stopped too early or the paper belongs at a different venue (cscw-topic-selection).
Because R&R returns to the same reviewers, overclaiming is a double cost: it draws the objection in round one and the check in round two. Write claims that a hostile re-reader can verify against your own data sections:
[Protagonist] Is a group/community/organization the subject of the first
claim sentence? yes / no
[Stake] Does ¶2 say what breaks if the field keeps misunderstanding
this — or just that "little is known"?
[Concept] Is there one named, reusable idea? Can a reviewer paraphrase
it in a sentence?
[Methods+ethics] Are counts, settings, consent posture, and data-sensitivity
handling visible by end of the introduction?
[Length claim] Word count: <n>. One-sentence defense if outside 5,000-12,000.Run the audit again on the revised manuscript before any R&R resubmission — the introduction is where reviewers first test whether the revision was real.
The word-band and template facts reflect the 2026-cycle CFP checked 2026-07-08; confirm they carry into the rolling model before citing them to a co-author.

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Cscw Writing Style is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
