Advmat Writing Style is an agent skill from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills. Use when polishing the prose of an Advanced Materials manuscript for Wiley house style, concision, precise materials nomenclature and units, and readability across materials subfields. Polishes language; does not restructure the advance or manage the length budget.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.6k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Writing & Content, covering Brand voice and tone and Plain language and style rules. The repository describes itself as: Journal-specific Claude Code/Codex skill packs covering mainstream journals — AER, QJE, Nature, Cell, 管理世界, 经济研究 & 200+ more — your fast track to getting published. | 覆盖主流期刊的… The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 932eb23. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Advmat Writing Style loads about 1.6k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 72 tokens; SKILL.md has 662 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills at commit 932eb23, republished under its MIT licence (© brycewang-stanford). 662 words, ~1,561 tokens.

| "It is worth noting that the material exhibits" | "The material exhibits" |
| "In order to investigate" | "To probe" |
| "We have successfully synthesized" | "We synthesized" (drop "successfully") |
| "Due to the fact that" | "Because" |

Adv. Mater. abstracts and openings are notorious for hype-word inflation ("novel," "unprecedented," "significantly," "remarkable"). Delete the adjective and let the number and the mechanism carry the claim.
Adv. Mater. is read across materials chemistry, physics, energy, electronics, and biomaterials — a battery reviewer may assess a photovoltaics paper. So:
Before (log-style, hype-stacked, un-benchmarked):
"In this work, a novel and unprecedented material was successfully synthesized via a facile method. It was found that the sample exhibits remarkably enhanced performance, which is significantly higher than previous works and may have great potential for future applications."
After (advance-first, calibrated, benchmarked):
"We report a layered oxide whose expanded interlayer spacing accommodates reversible multivalent intercalation. The resulting cathode delivers 220 mAh g⁻¹ at 1C with 92% capacity retention over 500 cycles — outperforming the best reported oxides of this family (Table 1) — because the spacing suppresses lattice strain during cycling."
What changed: "novel/unprecedented/facile/remarkable/significant" all deleted; the metric arrives with conditions and a benchmark; the mechanism ("spacing suppresses strain") replaces vague "great potential."
