What it does

Stack is an agent skill from bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt. Create or modify StackApp infrastructure-as-code manifests and Stack-managed application infrastructure. Use for Stack components, services, profiles, database wiring, storage, authentication, ingress, secrets, or deployment configuration.

Its SKILL.md is about 640 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `referrences/database.md`).

It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Cloud networking, Infrastructure as code and Deployment. The repository describes itself as: Bionic is sovereign Agentic AI for the enterprise — Runs on-premise and can securely work with your sensitive data and systems. The licence is Apache-2.0.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c155c00. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • kubectl

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use kubectl, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Stack loads about 635 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 295 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~61

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

description
Create or modify StackApp infrastructure-as-code manifests and Stack-managed application infrastructure. Use for Stack components, services, profiles, database wiring, storage, authentication, ingress, secrets, or deployment configuration.

Stack

Use this skill for infrastructure declared with the Stack StackApp custom resource. Stack is language-neutral: configure the infrastructure here, then use the relevant application skill for framework- or language-specific code.

Workflow

  1. Inspect the existing *.stack.yaml manifests and repository deployment conventions before editing.
  2. Identify whether the change belongs in the base spec or an environment-specific profile.
  3. Prefer a Stack component or service field over adding handwritten Kubernetes resources for infrastructure Stack already manages.
  4. Preserve existing component, service, namespace, secret, and environment variable names unless the requested change requires a migration.
  5. Validate the narrowest relevant configuration before proposing a deploy.

Profiles are overlays. Keep shared configuration in the base spec and put only environment differences under spec.profiles. Do not duplicate the full base configuration in each profile.

References

  • For PostgreSQL provisioning, roles, connection secrets, service wiring, or development port exposure, read references/database.md.

Add further capability references, such as storage, authentication, ingress, and secrets, when their implementation guidance is substantial enough to load only for those tasks.

Application Boundaries

Stack owns deployed infrastructure and delivery of configuration to services. Application skills own schemas, migrations, queries, HTTP handlers, pages, and business logic. A feature may require both this skill and an application skill.

Do not put application schema design or language-specific client code in a Stack manifest merely because the application consumes a Stack-managed service.

Deployment and Safety

Treat stack init, stack deploy, kubectl apply, secret changes, and cluster configuration changes as state-changing operations. Inspect the active context, manifest, profile, namespace, and intended environment before running them. Only deploy or mutate a cluster when the user explicitly requests it.

Do not expose secret values in logs or commit generated credentials. Refer to secrets by name and use Stack's supported service wiring where available.

When should I use Stack?

Stack fits situations like: stack components; database wiring; deployment configuration.

How do I install Stack in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt --skill stack -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/stack in bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt) into .claude/skills/stack in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Stack in Codex?

Run `npx skills add bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt --skill stack -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/stack in bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt) into .agents/skills/stack in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Stack in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt --skill stack -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/stack, .gemini/skills/stack, .github/skills/stack and .opencode/skills/stack in your project.

What does Stack need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Stack needs the command-line tools its instructions call (kubectl).

Does Stack access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Stack safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Stack use?

Stack is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Stack use?

About 635 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Stack?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Stack: Oci (oracle/skills, 872 stars), AWS Cloudformation Vpc (giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit, 355 stars), Platform Engineering (magnus919/agent-skills, 111 stars) and AWS Cdk Development (zxkane/aws-skills, 367 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Stack?

bionic-gpt (a GitHub organization) maintains it in bionic-gpt/bionic-gpt, which has 2,383 GitHub stars. The repository holds 21 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 7, 2026.
