Brainstorm is an agent skill from andymai/brepjs. Use at the START of any request to design, model, create, build, or 3D-print a physical part or assembly in brepjs — a bracket, enclosure, mount, gear, gridfinity bin, fixture, knob, adapter, and the like. This is the entry point to the brepjs CAD pipeline: it turns a vague or natural-language request ("a bracket for my router", "a gridfinity bin") into an explicit, buildable spec (dimensions in mm, datums, features, material/finish, tolerances) before any geometry is written, then hands off to brepjs:design →…
Its SKILL.md is about 760 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Agent Workflows, covering Brainstorming and Requirements gathering. The repository describes itself as: Web CAD library with exact B-Rep geometry. The licence is Apache-2.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2907fb1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Brainstorm loads about 758 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 156 tokens; SKILL.md has 318 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from andymai/brepjs at commit 2907fb1, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© andymai). 318 words, ~758 tokens.
.claude/skills/brainstorm/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Turn a natural-language request into an explicit spec the rest of the pipeline can build from. This is step 1 — the brief. You produce a written spec, not geometry. Run this in the main session (you can talk to the user here); the implement/verify/polish workers cannot.
Scoping is mostly open-ended, so default to prose questions asked inline here, not forms:
You want a bracket. To scope it: what surface does it mount to, what does it hold (load + size), and roughly what envelope should it fit in?
Reserve AskUserQuestion (multiple-choice) for concrete, mutually-exclusive decisions once the shape is otherwise clear — e.g. fastener size (M3/M4/M5), material (FDM vs metal), mounting style (flush/tab/flange), tolerance class, edge finish (sharp/fillet/chamfer). Never force a vague request into a multiple-choice form before the user has described intent — that asks them to pick before they've spoken.
Resolve, don't interrogate: if the request + sensible defaults already determine a field, fill it and state the assumption rather than asking.
Maker conventions inform what to assume and what to ask. These live with the implement skill:
../implement/references/fdm-conventions.md../implement/references/mechanical-joints.md../implement/references/gridfinity.mdEmit the spec as a compact markdown table (envelope, datums, features, material, tolerances,
assumptions). In the /brepjs:cad pipeline this is the gate where the orchestrator confirms the
spec with the user; standalone, hand it to brepjs:design to decompose into a build sequence.

Makes the agent clarify intent and agree on a design with you before writing any code, scaling the process from a quick spike to a written spec.
jnMetaCode/superpowers-zh
Turns a rough idea into an approved design before any code is written, sorting the request into spike, bounded or architectural and enforcing an approval gate.
EveryInc/compound-engineering-plugin
Turns a vague or ambitious feature idea into a requirements-only plan through dialogue with you, sized to the work, before any code is written.
nateherkai/AIS-OS
Interview the user relentlessly about a plan, design, or topic, checkpointing every answer to a brainstorm file so nothing is lost.
jsmastery-pro/jsm-agent-skill
Runs a short design conversation before coding: aligns on terms, works through the decisions that matter and ends with a plan you confirm.
first-fluke/oh-my-agent
Explores goals, constraints and alternative designs one question at a time and saves an approved design document before any planning or coding starts.

Brainstorm fits situations like: tasks that involve Brainstorming; tasks that involve Requirements gathering.
Run `npx skills add andymai/brepjs --skill brainstorm -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (packages/brepjs-cad/skills/brainstorm in andymai/brepjs) into .claude/skills/brainstorm in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add andymai/brepjs --skill brainstorm -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/brainstorm, .gemini/skills/brainstorm, .github/skills/brainstorm and .opencode/skills/brainstorm in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Brainstorm is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Brainstorm is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 758 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
