Gaia Harness Engineering is an agent skill from amd/gaia. Help a developer report a GAIA TUI, WebUI or agent problem, explicitly share a snapshot with Claude Code or Codex through MCP, and validate isolated worktree fixes.
Its SKILL.md is about 880 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: Build AI agents for your PC. The licence is MIT.
9 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 05fb50b. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Gaia Harness Engineering loads about 882 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 47 tokens; SKILL.md has 468 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

job ID to inspect source-cache initialization and coding-app setup. Surface
failures and connection instructions; do not claim connection or task launch
merely because the app exists.claude or codex with the developer. Prepare a concise summary and
selected evidence. Do not collect entire histories, unrelated files or
credentials. share_engineering_context shows the exact summary and context
and requests fresh approval before the selected coding app can read them.
The app may use a cloud provider; its existing filesystem permissions remain
independent of this bridge. Never use shell, file tools or another MCP tool
to bypass this approval. Bypass-permissions mode cannot approve sharing.open_engineering_app only when asked to open the app. An opened app or
prefilled composer is not a submitted or running task. The developer may
interact directly in their existing coding app.
For Codex specifically, opening only brings the app forward: it does not
create a task, select a folder or prefill a composer. Say this explicitly,
then show the returned directory and exact prompt to paste into a new task.
Never say "posted to Codex", "sent", or "look for the prefilled composer".
A generated MCP config is not an installed or verified client connection.approve_engineering_code to request worktree scope.
All edits must be in an isolated worktree from the managed GAIA cache.
Private snapshots stay outside Git; they must not become fixtures or commits.append_engineering_context, which asks again.engineering_status for reported progress and preview details. Clearly
distinguish app-reported results from locally verified checks. Native app
conversations and detailed coding remain in that app.revoke_engineering_context stops future bridge reads. Already delivered
data cannot be recalled. Stable release updates are a separate feature;
never replace the running GAIA installation from a preview worktree.© amd, MIT. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

Gaia Harness Engineering fits situations like: tasks that involve Git worktrees.
Run `npx skills add amd/gaia --skill gaia-harness-engineering -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (hub/agents/gaia/python/gaia_agent/skills/gaia-harness-engineering in amd/gaia) into .claude/skills/gaia-harness-engineering in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add amd/gaia --skill gaia-harness-engineering -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (hub/agents/gaia/python/gaia_agent/skills/gaia-harness-engineering in amd/gaia) into .agents/skills/gaia-harness-engineering in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add amd/gaia --skill gaia-harness-engineering -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/gaia-harness-engineering, .gemini/skills/gaia-harness-engineering, .github/skills/gaia-harness-engineering and .opencode/skills/gaia-harness-engineering in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Gaia Harness Engineering is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Gaia Harness Engineering is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 882 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
