pypi-maintainerSwitch a PyPI package install between the production index, TestPyPI pre-release builds, and a local editable checkout.
Pypi Maintainer is an agent skill from agentculture/culture. Switch a PyPI package install between the production index, TestPyPI pre-release builds, and a local editable checkout. Use when an agent maintains a package and needs to verify a TestPyPI dev build before promoting to production, or when the user says "install from test-pypi", "switch to local", "change package source", or "install from pypi".
Its SKILL.md is about 710 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including scripts (for example `scripts/switch-source.sh`).
It sits in Mobile, covering App store release. The repository describes itself as: Culture turns isolated stochastic agents into cooperative, inspectable, improvable artificial colleagues. The licence is Apache-2.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 44865d8. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Shell), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
bashuvFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Pypi Maintainer loads about 711 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 91 tokens; SKILL.md has 236 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from agentculture/culture at commit 44865d8, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© agentculture). 236 words, ~711 tokens.
.claude/skills/pypi-maintainer/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Switch the install source for a package the agent maintains. Three sources are supported: production PyPI, TestPyPI (pre-release / dev builds), and a local editable checkout. The same script works for any package an AgentCulture sibling publishes — pass the package name as the first argument.
# Production PyPI
bash .claude/skills/pypi-maintainer/scripts/switch-source.sh <package> pypi
# TestPyPI (pre-release dev builds)
bash .claude/skills/pypi-maintainer/scripts/switch-source.sh <package> test-pypi
# TestPyPI, pinned to a specific dev version
bash .claude/skills/pypi-maintainer/scripts/switch-source.sh <package> test-pypi --version 0.4.0.dev42
# Local editable checkout (defaults to current directory)
bash .claude/skills/pypi-maintainer/scripts/switch-source.sh <package> local
# Local editable from an explicit path
bash .claude/skills/pypi-maintainer/scripts/switch-source.sh <package> local --path ../<package>The script requires the following tools on PATH:
bashuv — the script delegates to uv tool install and uv tool list
(or uv pip install for local). When a package is published to both PyPI and TestPyPI, uv tool install
finds the production version on PyPI first and never looks at TestPyPI.
The script passes --index-strategy unsafe-best-match so uv compares the
two index sets and picks the highest version, plus --prerelease=allow
because TestPyPI builds carry dev suffixes (e.g. 0.4.0.dev42).
The script prints the resolved version once install completes — cross-check
that against the expected version (PR run number, local pyproject.toml)
before continuing.
| Position / flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
<package> (required) | The PyPI distribution name, e.g. steward-cli, culture, daria-cli. |
<source> (required) | One of pypi, test-pypi, local. |
--version VERSION | Pin to a specific version (TestPyPI builds typically need this). |
--path PATH | Local-source-only: path to the editable checkout (default: cwd). |

Run `npx skills add agentculture/culture --skill pypi-maintainer -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/pypi-maintainer in agentculture/culture) into .claude/skills/pypi-maintainer in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add agentculture/culture --skill pypi-maintainer -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/pypi-maintainer, .gemini/skills/pypi-maintainer, .github/skills/pypi-maintainer and .opencode/skills/pypi-maintainer in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Pypi Maintainer needs a shell for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (bash and uv). Our summary lists: Python 3; A Bash shell.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Pypi Maintainer is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 711 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
