The ui-ux-pro-max skill is a design reference for coding agents: a SKILL.md plus a local, searchable bank of UI styles, palettes, font pairings and UX rules that the agent queries before it writes interface code. This guide covers what is in it, how the design system generator works, the two supported install routes, how it differs from other design skills, and why the directory lists several copies.
Details come from the project's README at github.com/nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill, the skill's own description, and the directory's records. The editorial team did not run it against sample projects, so nothing here rates the quality of the designs it produces.
What the UI UX Pro Max skill contains
The skill is built around data files the agent searches rather than prose it reads in full. The skill's description lists what the local data holds, and the figures below are the ones stated at the time of writing:
- 79 searchable UI styles, of which 50 are active
- 192 product palettes and reasoning profiles
- 74 font pairings
- 119 UX guidelines
- 105 icons and 17 GSAP animation presets
- 25 chart types
- 22 stacks, from React, Next.js, Vue and Svelte to SwiftUI, Flutter, Jetpack Compose and several desktop toolkits
The README adds a reviewed set of Google Fonts with licence metadata. Counts change between releases, so treat these as a snapshot and read the current README before relying on a specific number.
The directory's page for nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max shows the full SKILL.md, an MIT licence and a pass result from its static check. Its description says it applies when designing, building, reviewing or fixing interfaces, including accessibility, responsive layout, typography, color and charts.
How the design system generator works
The README presents the design system generator as the main feature. You describe a product, such as "beauty spa wellness" or "fintech banking", and the script returns a recommendation covering page pattern, style priorities, color mood, typography, effects and anti-patterns to avoid. It also produces a pre-delivery checklist that touches accessibility, responsive testing and interaction timing.
The search script lives inside the installed skill folder. These are the README's example calls:
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "fintech banking" --design-system -f markdown
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "glassmorphism" --domain style
python3 .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max/scripts/search.py "form validation" --stack react
The --domain flag searches one data set, such as style, typography, chart, ux or icons. The --stack flag returns guidance for one framework. Adding --persist with a project name writes the result to a design-system/<project>/ folder with a MASTER.md file holding global rules and a pages/ folder for per-page overrides. According to the README, the skill checks for a page file first and falls back to the master file.
In most agents you simply ask for UI work, for example "Build a landing page for my SaaS product", and the skill activates from its description. The README says Kiro, GitHub Copilot, Roo Code and KiloCode use a slash command instead, /ui-ux-pro-max followed by the request.
How to install ui-ux-pro-max
The README documents two routes.
Claude Code plugin marketplace. Run these inside a session. The first adds the repository as a marketplace and the second installs the plugin from it:
/plugin marketplace add nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill
/plugin install ui-ux-pro-max@ui-ux-pro-max-skill
Installing a plugin enables everything it bundles. Scopes, updates and reviewing a plugin before you accept it are covered in the guide to Claude Code plugins and marketplaces.
The npm CLI. This route works for other agents too:
npm install -g ui-ux-pro-max-cli
cd /path/to/your/project
uipro init --ai claude
The --ai flag takes an agent name. The README lists claude, cursor, windsurf, antigravity, copilot, kiro, codex, qoder, roocode, gemini, trae, opencode, continue, codebuddy, droid, kilocode, warp, augment, codewhale and zcode, plus universal and all. Other flags it documents include --global for a user-level install, --dry-run to preview without writing, --offline to use bundled templates, and uipro update and uipro uninstall to refresh or remove the files.
For the folders each agent reads, see the directory's pages for Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and GitHub Copilot. The skill page in the directory also shows copy-and-paste commands per agent that do not need the npm package.
Which route to pick
Use the plugin marketplace if you only work in Claude Code and want updates to arrive through the plugin system. Use the CLI if you switch between agents, want the files written into a specific project folder, or need to preview the change with --dry-run. Both routes install the skill so the agent can load it.
If you do not want to add a global npm package or a marketplace, copy the skill folder yourself. In the upstream repository the skill sits at .claude/skills/ui-ux-pro-max, which you can drop into your own .claude/skills/ directory, and the README notes that the repository's source of truth is under src/ui-ux-pro-max/. Copying by hand also lets you read every file before the agent sees it.
Other skills in the same repository
The nextlevelbuilder repository holds more than one skill, and each has its own directory page:
| Skill | What it covers | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| ui-styling | shadcn/ui components, Tailwind CSS, themes, dark mode, canvas-based posters | MIT |
| design-system | Three-layer design tokens, component specs, slides from the same system | MIT |
| design | Brand identity, logos, icons, slides, banners and social images in one skill | MIT |
| brand | Brand voice, visual identity, asset checks and token sync | MIT |
| banner-design | Banners for social, ads, web heroes and print, with several art-direction options | MIT |
| slides | Strategic HTML presentations with Chart.js | MIT |
The design skill's description mentions logo and icon generation through external image services. If you enable it, read what keys and accounts it asks for before running anything. The README says the reference skill's search scripts make no network calls, which is a useful difference when you are choosing how much to install.
How it compares with other design skills
The skill does not tell the agent to adopt one taste. It supplies options and rules to search, which suits teams that need an answer for a specific industry or framework. Skills with a stronger point of view work differently. The official frontend-design skill is guidance only: it pushes the agent toward a deliberate aesthetic direction, with no data files or scripts. Component skills such as ui-styling and shadcn skills know one stack in depth.
A sensible pairing is one direction skill or this reference skill, plus one skill for your component library. Stacking several broad design skills mostly adds loaded text. The comparison of frontend design skills sorts the options by job, and the design systems topic and accessibility topic list more.
Why the directory shows copies of ui-ux-pro-max
Search the directory for the name and you find nine listings. One is the upstream skill. The rest are copies that other people placed in their own repositories, usually as one skill among many:
| Listing | Licence recorded | Static check |
|---|---|---|
| nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max (upstream) | MIT | pass |
| nexu-io/ui-ux-pro-max | Apache-2.0 | pass |
| galaxy-dawn/ui-ux-pro-max | MIT | pass |
| majiayu000/ui-ux-pro-max | MIT | pass |
| allenpeng0705/ui-ux-pro-max | none recorded | info |
The directory also lists copies under the owners assafkip, avelikiy and leoyeai, plus a second copy under allenpeng0705. A copy can lag the upstream or sit inside a repository that has a different licence from the original. Prefer the upstream listing unless you have a reason to take a copy, and check the licence the copy's repository actually states.
What to review before you trust it
- Scripts. The skill runs a Python script on your machine. Read
scripts/search.pyonce before you let the agent run it. - Global npm install.
npm install -g ui-ux-pro-max-cliruns package code and writes into your project or home directory. Use--dry-runfirst to see whatuipro initwould write. - Context cost. The directory estimates the SKILL.md at close to four thousand tokens. The style, palette and font data sit in files that the search script queries.
- Token limits. The README's troubleshooting table suggests splitting a task into smaller steps if the response exceeds the token maximum.
- Marketplace installs. A plugin runs with your user privileges, and auto-update is off by default for third-party marketplaces according to Anthropic's documentation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the ui-ux-pro-max skill?
It is a design reference skill from the nextlevelbuilder repository. Its SKILL.md points the agent at local searchable data covering UI styles, color palettes, font pairings, UX guidelines, icons, chart types and framework-specific notes, which a bundled Python script queries. It also generates a design system recommendation from a short product description.
How do I install ui-ux-pro-max in Claude Code?
The README gives two routes. Add the repository as a plugin marketplace with /plugin marketplace add nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill and install ui-ux-pro-max@ui-ux-pro-max-skill, or install the npm package ui-ux-pro-max-cli globally and run uipro init --ai claude inside your project.
Does ui-ux-pro-max need Python or network access?
The README says the search scripts need Python 3 and use only the standard library, with no external dependencies or network calls. Other skills in the same repository, such as the design skill, mention image generation services, so check each one's requirements.
Which licence covers ui-ux-pro-max?
The repository's README states the MIT licence and credits third-party assets such as Google Fonts and Phosphor icons. Copies of the skill in other repositories carry their own licence, and the directory records Apache-2.0 for one copy and no licence for two others.
Why does the directory list several ui-ux-pro-max skills?
Other people copied the skill folder into their own repositories, so the directory shows each copy as a separate listing. The nextlevelbuilder listing is the upstream source, and copies can differ in version, licence or surrounding files.
