nature-citationFinds and verifies Nature-family and CNS literature that supports manuscript claims, maps claims to sources and exports a reference-manager file.
The skill works from a manifest and core files that define the journal scope, a source hierarchy and search-quality rules. It reads the scope from your wording, such as Nature series, CNS, CNS with sister journals or flagship only, passes it to a Python script, and states the scope and date limits in one line before searching. When you write in Chinese it gives Chinese notes but keeps English search queries, and long inputs of more than about 10 segments switch to a batched strategy.
The seven-step workflow segments the manuscript text, parses claims, searches, grades support conservatively, validates complete structured author metadata, exports one reference-manager file in RIS and EndNote form, and generates review artifacts such as an HTML view. A paper is never presented as support merely because its title is related, metadata-only candidates are not cited without checking the abstract or publisher page, and missing bibliographic fields are never invented; if DOI metadata lacks given names, the record is refetched by PMID or verified at the publisher.
4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e605b35. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Python, from the files we listed), which the agent can run.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Nature Citation Finder loads about 759 tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.1k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 69 tokens; SKILL.md has 346 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from Yuan1z0825/nature-skills at commit e605b35, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© Yuan1z0825). 346 words, ~759 tokens.
.claude/skills/nature-citation/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 15 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.For a new task, load the core and matching resources below. Reuse already loaded guidance on follow-ups; load more only when the task needs it.
Read manifest.yaml. Then read every file listed under always_load:
static/core/principles.md — what the skill produces, the strict journal scope, the source hierarchy, and the search-quality rules.static/core/workflow.md — the seven-step workflow and the final report format.Unlike the other nature-* skills, nature-citation has no fragment axis. Its variation is runtime parameters, not different content bodies:
Nature系列 / CNS / CNS及子刊 / flagship-only. Read it from the user's wording (see core/principles.md) and pass it to the script as --scope.static/core/chinese-mode.md (Chinese notes, English search queries).references/script-usage.md.State the detected scope and date limits in one short line before searching.
Follow the seven steps in core/workflow.md: segment, parse, search, evaluate support conservatively, validate complete structured author metadata, export one reference-manager file, and generate review artifacts when useful. Put the HTML browser path first only when it was generated. Prefer scripts/nature_citation.py for the search/export when internet access is available; open references/script-usage.md for its full flag list and the long-article batch strategy. When DOI metadata lacks given names, refetch the record by PMID or verify it against the publisher rather than exporting surname-only AU fields.
Never present a paper as support merely because its title is related, and never cite a metadata-only candidate without checking the abstract or publisher page. Do not invent missing bibliographic fields.
The files under references/ are deep references, not defaults. Open them on demand per the references.on_demand table in the manifest:
references/script-usage.md.references/search-strategy.md.references/journal-scope.md.references/ris-endnote.md.© Yuan1z0825, Apache-2.0. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

Nature Citation Finder fits situations like: adding supporting Nature or Science-family citations to manuscript claims; checking that a candidate paper really supports a specific statement; exporting verified references to EndNote or another reference manager.
Run `npx skills add Yuan1z0825/nature-skills --skill nature-citation -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/nature-citation in Yuan1z0825/nature-skills) into .claude/skills/nature-citation in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Yuan1z0825/nature-skills --skill nature-citation -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Nature Citation Finder needs Python for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: Python 3 and internet access for the search and export script.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Nature Citation Finder is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 759 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 3.3k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
