local-seekSearches local files and code through one script, seek.py, that picks between rg, fd and macOS Spotlight and works in three layers: locate, context, close reading.
All local searches go through scripts/seek.py, which chooses the underlying tool so the agent does not hand-build rg or fd arguments. Searching moves in three layers: find which files match with a count or filename list, view a few lines of context around hits, and only then read key passages by line number. The tool output is meant to be the answer, and the agent starts narrow, counts before looking and avoids reading whole files.
Built-in behavior includes literal matching for plain queries, fallback when regex parsing fails, relaxing a Chinese query into two-character terms when the exact phrase finds nothing, a PCRE2 look-around check, structural code-pattern search for things like bare except or empty catch, and git log or blame shortcuts. Spotlight search uses the macOS index and is not available on Windows or Linux. Exclusion rules sit in config/domains.yaml, and reference files hold recipes for rg, fd, git integration and structural search. The SKILL.md is written in Chinese.
10 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a6657b0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Local File and Code Search loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 34 tokens; SKILL.md has 196 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

所有搜索都走本技能里的 scripts/seek.py(相对 argo 根:sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py),
# 以下以 argo 安装根为 cwd;或写死 $ARGO_HOME/sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" # 默认:当前目录全文
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --path ~/notes # 指定目录
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "词" --path ~/.agents --dot # 连以 .
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "词" --path .
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --count # 先数命中,再决定是否深入
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --filename # 按文件名
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --type py,ts
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --json # 结构化输出
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --exact # 关闭中文扩展,精确匹配
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py "查询词" --exclude 某文件 # 额外排除(可重复)
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py --outline 文件路径 # 文件结构(def/class/标题/顶层key)
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py --lines 10-50 文件路径 # 按行读取,替代 read_file 全文
python3 sub-skills/local-seek/scripts/seek.py --git-log 文件路径 # 文件的最近提交历史

Local File and Code Search fits situations like: finding where a function or symbol is defined in a local project; locating a file when you only remember part of its name; searching notes or documents on disk for a phrase; checking who last changed a line with git blame.
Run `npx skills add taxueseek/argo --skill local-seek -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (sub-skills/local-seek in taxueseek/argo) into .claude/skills/local-seek in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add taxueseek/argo --skill local-seek -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (sub-skills/local-seek in taxueseek/argo) into .agents/skills/local-seek in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add taxueseek/argo --skill local-seek -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/local-seek, .gemini/skills/local-seek, .github/skills/local-seek and .opencode/skills/local-seek in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Local File and Code Search needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3, to run scripts/seek.py; ripgrep and fd installed locally.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Local File and Code Search is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 3.2k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Local File and Code Search: Git Project Status (espennilsen/pi, 122 stars), Skyvern Version Bump (Skyvern-AI/skyvern, 23k stars), Saleor Commit Workflow (saleor/saleor, 23k stars) and pybind11 Release Preparation (pybind/pybind11, 18k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
