Youtube is an agent skill from superhero-tech/super-brain. Captures a YouTube video as a source note and a wiki page. Use when the human drops a video URL, wants a talk or tutorial turned into notes, or asks what a specific video said about a topic.
Its SKILL.md is about 990 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Knowledge Management. It works with YouTube. The repository describes itself as: Product Builder Second Brain - AI Product Heroes Edition 3. The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0922a1a. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
yt-dlpbrewpipFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
youtube.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Youtube loads about 985 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 445 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from superhero-tech/super-brain at commit 0922a1a, republished under its MIT licence (© superhero-tech). 445 words, ~985 tokens.
.claude/skills/youtube/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Turns a YouTube video into a structured note, then compiles that note into a wiki page in Knowledge.
This skill pulls metadata and subtitles with yt-dlp. Install it once:
brew install yt-dlp # macOS
pip install yt-dlp # everywhere elseWithout yt-dlp the skill still works, just slower: take the video ID from the URL and search the web for the metadata, then ask the human to paste the transcript from YouTube's transcript panel. Say which route you are taking so they know why it takes longer.
/youtube https://youtube.com/watch?v=...yt-dlp --skip-download --print "%(title)s|||%(channel)s|||%(upload_date)s|||%(description).500s" "$ARGUMENTS"If yt-dlp fails: extract the video ID from the URL and use web search.
yt-dlp --skip-download --write-auto-subs --sub-langs "en" --sub-format "vtt" -o "/tmp/yt_transcript" "$ARGUMENTS"Add more languages to --sub-langs when you need them. If it fails, ask the user to paste the transcript from YouTube.

Save the note to 2-Inbox/, then run the ingest skill on it. That skill owns everything downstream: mapping the video against the wiki, writing the pages, linking them, updating the index and log, and archiving the note to 5-Raw/.
Tell the ingest one thing it cannot see on its own: talks are entity-heavy. The speaker, their company and every tool they name by name are entity candidates, and a good talk moves more pages than an article of the same length.
This skill's job ends at a note good enough to compile.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Youtube needs the command-line tools its instructions call (yt-dlp, brew and pip). Our summary lists: Python 3.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: youtube.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Youtube is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 985 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
