space-video-transcriptExtracts subtitles or a full transcript from YouTube, Xiaoyuzhou, Bilibili, Douyin and Xiaohongshu links, using speech recognition when a video has no subtitles.
Give the agent a link from one of the five supported platforms and it runs a bundled script that first tries to fetch subtitles the platform already has. If there are none, the script pulls the audio and tries speech recognition in a fixed order: Groq, then a local Whisper install, then agent-reach. A doctor command checks the setup on first use or when the environment looks wrong.
Output goes to a video-transcripts folder by default. You get a readable Markdown transcript with source, language and timestamps, plus an SRT subtitle file when the timing is reliable. The agent reports the file path, the platform and whether platform subtitles or speech recognition produced the text, then asks if you also want the original video; for Xiaoyuzhou podcasts it downloads the audio instead. Nothing is downloaded until you say yes.
English-only subtitles can be translated into Chinese on request, keeping timestamps and facts, and doubtful proper-noun fixes are listed rather than applied silently. Platforms that need a login are handled by asking you to sign in through your own browser first. Xiaoyuzhou links must point to a single episode, and DRM, paid or restricted content is out of scope, with no attempt to bypass captchas or permission checks.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit edf46c5. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 5 files in scripts/ (Python and Shell), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
bashFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
GROQ_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Video Link Transcript Extractor loads about 498 tokens when it runs, and up to ~836 if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 46 tokens; SKILL.md has 73 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 73 words (~498 tokens).

Video Link Transcript Extractor fits situations like: extracting subtitles from a YouTube, Bilibili, Douyin or Xiaohongshu video link; turning a Xiaoyuzhou podcast episode link into a written transcript; getting a Markdown or SRT file of what is said in a video that has no subtitles; saving the original video or audio after the transcript is done.
Run `npx skills add SpaceZephyr/creator-buddy --skill space-video-transcript -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (video-Skills/space-video-transcript in SpaceZephyr/creator-buddy) into .claude/skills/space-video-transcript in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add SpaceZephyr/creator-buddy --skill space-video-transcript -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (video-Skills/space-video-transcript in SpaceZephyr/creator-buddy) into .agents/skills/space-video-transcript in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add SpaceZephyr/creator-buddy --skill space-video-transcript -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/space-video-transcript, .gemini/skills/space-video-transcript, .github/skills/space-video-transcript and .opencode/skills/space-video-transcript in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Video Link Transcript Extractor needs Python and a shell for the scripts in its folder, the command-line tools its instructions call (bash) and credentials named GROQ_API_KEY. Our summary lists: A link to a supported video or podcast page; Bash to run the bundled scripts/run.sh; For videos without subtitles: a GROQ_API_KEY, openai-whisper, or agent-reach transcribe; A signed-in Chrome session for platforms that require login (optional).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
No licence was found for Video Link Transcript Extractor or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 498 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 338 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
