agent-memory-implementationReorganizes an overgrown MEMORY.md into a short pointer index plus separate topic files, and fixes or deletes outdated memories instead of archiving them.
The skill reshapes an agent's memory directory into two layers modeled on how Claude Code's autoDream service works. Layer one is MEMORY.md, a pointer-only index that is loaded every time and kept to about 200 lines, each entry being a one-line link with a short hook. Layer two is a set of topic files with YAML frontmatter holding name, description and type, which are read only when relevant.
There is no archive layer: stale, superseded or contradicted memories are deleted or corrected in place, so the folder always shows the current truth. The skill also explains how Claude Code's background extraction agent writes memories after each query loop, so your restructuring does not fight it. An audit script (scripts/memory_audit.py) and a reference of memory type definitions ship alongside it.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e5ba66c. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

MEMORY.md Restructuring loads about 2.4k tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.4k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 156 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,001 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,001 words (~2,356 tokens).
“Restructures memory files into the 2-layer architecture that Claude Code's autoDream service uses internally — designed to keep the always-loaded index small while making deeper knowledge accessible on demand.”

MemoriLabs/Memori
Adds structured long-term memory to OpenClaw agents, built automatically from sessions, with tools the agent calls to recall facts, summaries and decisions.
open-gsd/gsd-core
Recalls earlier decisions, patterns and surprises from MemPalace memory before planning, behind a config gate that never blocks the planning step.

MEMORY.md Restructuring fits situations like: MEMORY.md has grown past 200 lines; index entries contain full paragraphs instead of one-line pointers; index entries and topic content are mixed in the same file; memory notes contradict each other or describe things that are no longer true.
Run `npx skills add simbajigege/book2skills --skill agent-memory-implementation -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/agent-memory-implementation in simbajigege/book2skills) into .claude/skills/agent-memory-implementation in your project. Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add simbajigege/book2skills --skill agent-memory-implementation -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/agent-memory-implementation, .gemini/skills/agent-memory-implementation, .github/skills/agent-memory-implementation and .opencode/skills/agent-memory-implementation in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, MEMORY.md Restructuring needs Python for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: An existing MEMORY.md and memory directory to restructure; Python to run scripts/memory_audit.py.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
MEMORY.md Restructuring has a licence file (from the LICENSE file in the skill folder) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 2.4k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 9.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 2k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
