What it does

Visualize is an agent skill from scaccogatto/okf-skills. Render an Open Knowledge Format (OKF) bundle as a single self-contained, interactive HTML graph (viz.html) — concepts as nodes coloured by type and sized by body length, markdown links and bundle-internal sources as edges, a wiki-style detail panel with rendered markdown, v0.2 trust/lifecycle/provenance metadata, and "Links to" / "Cited by" backlinks, layout switching, per-type filter and search. Use when asked to visualize, graph, preview, or explore an OKF bundle.

Its SKILL.md is about 710 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including scripts (for example `scripts/okf_visualize.py`).

It sits in Marketing & SEO, covering HTML artifacts, Link building and Markdown. The repository describes itself as: The OKF toolkit for Claude Code — author, maintain, validate & visualize Open Knowledge Format bundles. Plugin, agent skills, and a GitHub Action. The licence is MIT.

  • “/visualize”

Requirements

  • Python 3
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Bash

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8e31878. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Bash

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • python3
    • uv

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Visualize loads about 714 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 121 tokens; SKILL.md has 285 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~121
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~714

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check: notes

The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.

  • NotePre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: Bash)SKILL.md
    allowed-tools: Bash

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

Visualize an OKF bundle

Generate a self-contained HTML graph of the target bundle. The bundle directory is required, so pass .okf explicitly when no path is given. No backend, no install, no bundle content leaves the page. The viewer does need network access: cytoscape, marked and dompurify load from cdn.jsdelivr.net.

bash
uv run "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/scripts/okf_visualize.py" $ARGUMENTS

If uv is unavailable:

bash
python3 -m pip install --quiet pyyaml && \
python3 "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/scripts/okf_visualize.py" $ARGUMENTS

The detail panel shows each concept's type, description, tags, status, generated, verified, stale_after, sources (with their credibility signals, a usage_count alongside the usage_window that frames it), and rendered body; a sources entry pointing at another concept in the bundle also becomes a graph edge. A v0.1 timestamp is read as generated.at, so legacy bundles still render fully.

Two badges are derived, not read: the §5.3 trust tier (unverified / machine-confirmed / human-reviewed, keyed off the human: prefix in verified[].by) and staleness (now >= stale_after). They are advisory signals — when reporting on a bundle, say which tier a concept is in rather than treating any of them as a gate.

FlagEffect
-o <path>Output file (default <bundle>/viz.html).
-t, --titleGraph title (default parent/bundle dir name).
-l, --linkSource URL shown in the header.
--layoutcose, concentric, breadthfirst, circle, grid.
--max-nodes NExit 1 above N concepts (useful in CI).
--og-image URLAbsolute URL for the social preview image.

Above 1,000 concepts the default switches to concentric (force freezes the page; --layout cose overrides, and the in-page picker asks first). Above 5,000 it warns that the page loads slowly and reads as a hairball, and suggests rendering a subdirectory.

Open it in any browser; ${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR} resolves whether this runs as part of the okf plugin or as a standalone skills.sh skill. The page is deep-linkable: ?select=<concept-id> or #<concept-id> opens that concept, ?layout=<name> presets the layout.

Visualize is an agent skill from scaccogatto/okf-skills.2 trust/lifecycle/provenance metadata, and "Links to" / "Cited by" backlinks, layout switching, per-type filter and search.

When should I use Visualize?

Visualize fits situations like: asked to visualize; explore an OKF bundle.

How do I install Visualize in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add scaccogatto/okf-skills --skill visualize -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/visualize in scaccogatto/okf-skills) into .claude/skills/visualize in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Visualize in Codex?

Run `npx skills add scaccogatto/okf-skills --skill visualize -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/visualize in scaccogatto/okf-skills) into .agents/skills/visualize in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Visualize in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add scaccogatto/okf-skills --skill visualize -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/visualize, .gemini/skills/visualize, .github/skills/visualize and .opencode/skills/visualize in your project.

What does Visualize need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Visualize needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3 and uv). Our summary lists: Python 3. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash.

Does Visualize access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Visualize safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.

What licence does Visualize use?

Visualize is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Visualize use?

About 714 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Visualize?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Visualize: Blog Write (AgriciDaniel/claude-blog, 2.3k stars), Blog Write (AgriciDaniel/claude-blog, 2.3k stars), Webobsidian (xnohat/webobsidian, 268 stars) and Obsidian Layout Adjustment (Ar9av/obsidian-wiki, 3.5k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Visualize?

scaccogatto (a GitHub user) maintains it in scaccogatto/okf-skills, which has 407 GitHub stars. The repository holds 4 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on September 28, 2026.
