idrive-backupA skill your agent uses whenever the user wants you to manage, discuss or diagnose iDrive Backup configuration on macOS
Idrive Backup is an agent skill from sammcj/agentic-coding. Use this skill whenever the user wants you to manage, discuss or diagnose iDrive Backup configuration on macOS
Its SKILL.md is about 1.7k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 4 other files, including scripts and reference files (for example `references/idrive-config.md` and `scripts/idrive_tool.py`).
It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Backup and disaster recovery. It works with macOS. The repository describes itself as: Agentic Coding Rules, Templates etc... The licence is Apache-2.0.
6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2f25ced. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadEditWriteBashGlobGrepFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
python3From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Idrive Backup loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs, and up to ~5.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 31 tokens; SKILL.md has 604 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Read, Edit, Write, Bash, Glob, GrepAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from sammcj/agentic-coding at commit 2f25ced, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© sammcj). 604 words, ~1,718 tokens.
.claude/skills/idrive-backup/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 2 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.iDrive stores all configuration at ~/Library/Application Support/IDriveforMac/. The username is the iDrive account email (e.g. user@example.com), detected from the top-level key in appDefaultSettings.plist.
This skill bundles scripts/idrive_tool.py which handles all iDrive operations with correct matching semantics, symlink resolution, and safety backups. Run it with:

One has a typo: NotifyFaiulreValue. The editable exclusion map key is User specified Exclusion (lowercase 's'). Getting any of these wrong creates orphaned keys.IDLoginDetails.plist, Sync.plist, LDB_NEW/*.ib databases, or anything under Operation/ (root-owned daemon files).| Map | Plist Key | Count | Matching | Editable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Default | Default Exclusion | ~24 | Exact/parent path | No |
| Partial File | Partial File Exclusion | ~41 | Substring of full path OR exact filename | No |

| User Specified | User specified Exclusion | 100-2000+ | Exact/parent path | Yes |
| Propagated | Propagated Files Exclusion | Usually 0 | Exact/parent path | No (web console) |
Partial File Exclusion is substring-based. This is the trickiest map. A pattern like .cache matches both /Users/foo/.cache and /path/to/download_cache. Patterns are relative names (never absolute paths), including dotfile dirs (.git, .venv), filename patterns (fp16.bin, safetensors), and one with a separator (pkg/mod).

A skill your agent uses whenever the user wants you to manage, discuss or diagnose iDrive Backup configuration on macOS. Idrive Backup is an agent skill from sammcj/agentic-coding.
Idrive Backup fits situations like: the user wants you to manage; diagnose iDrive Backup configuration on macOS.
Run `npx skills add sammcj/agentic-coding --skill idrive-backup -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (Skills_disabled/idrive-backup in sammcj/agentic-coding) into .claude/skills/idrive-backup in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add sammcj/agentic-coding --skill idrive-backup -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (Skills_disabled/idrive-backup in sammcj/agentic-coding) into .agents/skills/idrive-backup in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add sammcj/agentic-coding --skill idrive-backup -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/idrive-backup, .gemini/skills/idrive-backup, .github/skills/idrive-backup and .opencode/skills/idrive-backup in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Idrive Backup needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Edit, Write, Bash, Glob, Grep.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Idrive Backup is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 3.4k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Idrive Backup: Computer Repair (88lin/computer-repair-skill, 352 stars), Openclaw Live Updater (openclaw/openclaw, 392k stars), OmniRoute Backup and Sync CLI (diegosouzapw/OmniRoute, 74k stars) and Reproduce macOS Python Flavors (Nuitka/Nuitka, 15k stars).
