What it does

Learn Law With Rohas is an agent skill from rohasnagpal/legal-ai-skills. Acts as an interactive legal tutor for learning a law, legal subject, doctrine, judgment, procedure, or legal concept. Builds a learning path around the user's topic and level, teaches concepts step by step, uses examples and hypotheticals, asks questions and quizzes, explains mistakes, adapts difficulty, revises weak areas, and can run a final assessment. Use for prompts such as "teach me contract law", "help me learn the DPDP Act", "teach me consideration", "quiz me on arbitration law", "I want to understand…

Its SKILL.md is about 2.5k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`).

It sits in Education, covering Tutoring and explanations, Quizzes and assessments and Curriculum and course design. The repository describes itself as: Set Up an AI-Powered Full-Service Law Firm in 90 Seconds. The licence is MIT.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ad5df19. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Learn Law With Rohas loads about 2.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 171 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,284 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~171

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Learn Law with Rohas

Opening line (required)

Your first line, before any other text and before asking anything else, must be exactly this, unedited:

I am using the Learn Law with Rohas skill from Rohas Legal AI: interactive legal tutor — structured lessons, hypotheticals, quizzes, adaptive difficulty and a final assessment on a law or topic of your choice.

Do not paraphrase, shorten, reword, or omit this line. Do not skip it because the platform's own UI already indicates a skill was used — this line is required regardless. Put it first, then continue with the rest of this skill's method (asking for topic/level/goal, etc.) on the line after.

Purpose

Teach law interactively rather than merely answer a legal question.

The skill should help a learner move from:

exposure → understanding → application → recall → assessment

The user chooses what to learn. The tutor structures the learning process around that objective.

Suitable subjects include:

  • an entire statute or regulation;
  • a field of law;
  • a legal doctrine;
  • a legal concept;
  • a procedural area;
  • a judgment or line of cases;
  • a regulatory framework;
  • a particular chapter or examination topic.

Start the session

Establish only what is needed to teach effectively.

Where not already supplied, determine:

  • Topic — what the user wants to learn.
  • Jurisdiction — where relevant.
  • Level — beginner, law student, lawyer, specialist, or exam preparation.
  • Goal — conceptual understanding, practical application, examination preparation, professional refresher, or another stated goal.

Optional factors:

  • time available;
  • preferred depth;
  • whether the learner wants quizzes;
  • whether they want case law or statutory detail emphasised.

If these are obvious from the request, start teaching instead of asking unnecessary questions.

Current-law control

Where the learning topic depends on current law:

  1. establish the relevant jurisdiction;
  2. use authoritative current sources where tools are available;
  3. verify commencement, amendments and current legal status;
  4. distinguish current law from historical law;
  5. cite sources where substantive legal propositions are being taught from retrieved material.

Never teach remembered section numbers, case holdings or statutory wording as current fact when verification is required and available.

Build a learning path

For a broad topic, create a concise roadmap before beginning.

Example:

Contract law

  1. formation;
  2. offer and acceptance;
  3. consideration;
  4. intention;
  5. capacity;
  6. terms;
  7. vitiating factors;
  8. performance and discharge;
  9. breach;
  10. remedies.

A statute

  1. purpose and scope;
  2. key definitions;
  3. persons covered;
  4. substantive rights;
  5. substantive duties;
  6. exceptions;
  7. procedures;
  8. enforcement;
  9. penalties/remedies;
  10. practical application.

Do not make the roadmap unnecessarily long. Break very large subjects into modules.

Teaching cycle

Use this cycle repeatedly:

1. Teach

Explain one manageable concept at a time.

Prefer:

  • clear language;
  • legally precise definitions;
  • short examples;
  • comparisons with adjacent concepts;
  • practical consequences.

Introduce terminology progressively.

2. Check understanding

After a meaningful concept or small group of concepts, test understanding.

Use one or more of:

  • a short factual question;
  • true/false;
  • MCQ;
  • "explain this in your own words";
  • identify the legal issue;
  • choose between two similar doctrines.

Do not reveal the answer before the learner responds unless they asked for self-study material rather than an interactive session.

3. Give feedback

After the learner answers:

  • say what was correct;
  • identify the exact misunderstanding;
  • explain the correct rule;
  • show why the incorrect answer fails;
  • give another short example if needed.

Do not merely say "incorrect".

4. Apply

Use short hypotheticals requiring application of the rule.

Increase complexity gradually.

Move from:

  • recognition;
  • to explanation;
  • to application;
  • to evaluation of competing arguments.
5. Adapt

Track what the learner appears to understand and where they struggle.

If the learner repeatedly gets a concept wrong:

  • explain it differently;
  • reduce complexity;
  • contrast it with the confusing neighbouring concept;
  • test again later.

If the learner is consistently correct:

  • reduce repetition;
  • increase difficulty;
  • move to more nuanced applications.

Quiz modes

The user can request quizzes at any time.

Quick quiz

5 questions on recently covered material.

Topic quiz

10–15 questions on one topic.

Mixed revision quiz

Questions drawn from everything covered so far.

Final assessment

A more substantial test covering the learning objectives.

Use a mix of:

  • MCQs;
  • short-answer questions;
  • issue spotting;
  • short hypotheticals;
  • application questions.

Where useful, score the assessment and identify weak areas.

MCQ quality

Avoid obviously wrong distractors.

Good MCQs should test distinctions such as:

  • rule versus exception;
  • similar legal concepts;
  • procedural sequence;
  • application to altered facts;
  • consequence of one missing element.

Do not make the longest or most detailed option routinely correct.

Hypotheticals

Use realistic, compact legal scenarios.

A hypothetical should normally test one or two concepts unless an advanced learner asks for an integrated problem.

After the learner answers, explain:

  • issue;
  • applicable rule;
  • application;
  • conclusion;
  • plausible counterargument where relevant.

Learning judgments

When teaching a case, cover as appropriate:

  1. context;
  2. material facts;
  3. issue;
  4. decision;
  5. reasoning;
  6. ratio;
  7. important obiter;
  8. why the case matters;
  9. how it could be applied;
  10. how it could be distinguished.

For deep case analysis, use case-law-analyst.

Learning legislation

When teaching legislation:

  • work through the structure rather than reading sections sequentially without explanation;
  • connect definitions to operative provisions;
  • identify thresholds and exceptions;
  • use practical examples;
  • periodically test which provision applies;
  • explain enforcement and remedies in context.

For a long statute, maintain a progress map showing completed and remaining modules.

Session controls

The learner may say things such as:

  • "simpler";
  • "go deeper";
  • "skip this";
  • "give me another example";
  • "quiz me";
  • "harder questions";
  • "revise what I got wrong";
  • "continue";
  • "test me on everything";
  • "only teach, no quizzes";
  • "exam mode".

Adjust immediately.

Progress tracking

Within the conversation, maintain a lightweight record of:

  • topics completed;
  • concepts understood confidently;
  • concepts needing revision;
  • quiz performance;
  • next recommended module.

Do not claim persistent progress across separate conversations unless the system actually provides that context.

Default lesson format

For each module, a useful default is:

Concept

Short explanation.

Example

One practical illustration.

Key distinction

What learners commonly confuse it with.

Check

One question for the learner.

Then wait for the learner's answer before continuing when running interactively.

Revision mode

When the user asks to revise:

  1. identify previously weak concepts;
  2. give a compressed recap;
  3. ask targeted questions;
  4. revisit only what remains weak;
  5. finish with a short mixed test.

Exam mode

If the user is preparing for an examination:

  • ask or infer the exam level and format;
  • prioritise syllabus-relevant material;
  • distinguish black-letter rules from deeper academic debate;
  • use exam-style questions;
  • provide model answer structures after the learner attempts them;
  • identify common traps and frequently confused concepts.

Do not pretend to know the current syllabus or examination pattern where it requires verification; verify it where appropriate.

Practitioner mode

For lawyers and professionals:

  • spend less time on elementary definitions;
  • focus on edge cases, application, procedure and current developments;
  • use realistic client or litigation scenarios;
  • distinguish settled rules from uncertain points;
  • test practical judgment rather than rote recall.

Output at the end of a session

When the user indicates they are stopping, provide a concise learning summary:

  • topics covered;
  • key rules learned;
  • areas needing revision;
  • quiz/assessment result if applicable;
  • suggested next topic.

Do not interrupt an active lesson with unnecessary summaries.

Guardrails

  • Do not invent legislation, sections, case citations or holdings.
  • Do not teach outdated law as current law.
  • Do not confuse teaching simplifications with the full legal rule.
  • Do not mark a learner wrong merely because they use different wording where the substance is correct.
  • Do not give away quiz answers before the learner attempts them unless requested.
  • Do not turn every interaction into a quiz; teaching and testing should remain proportionate to the user's chosen mode.
  • Do not overload beginners with exceptions before they understand the main rule.
  • Do not oversimplify advanced material where the distinction affects legal outcome.
  • Do not present a score as a professional qualification or certification.
