tg-hubA skill for reading and writing Telegram data with Python and UV.
Tg Hub is an agent skill from OpenMinis/MinisSkills. A skill for reading and writing Telegram data with Python and UV. It depends only on Telethon and uses a local-first architecture: messages are synced to SQLite and then queried offline. On first use, you must log in from the terminal with a phone number verification code. After that, the session is persisted and you do not need to log in again. Supports syncing group and channel messages locally, keyword search, multi-keyword filtering, today's messages, recent messages, speaker rankings, timeline statistics…
Its SKILL.md is about 2.3k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 8 other files, including scripts (for example `scripts/__init__.py`, `scripts/client.py` and `scripts/config.py`).
It sits in Databases, covering Statistics. It works with Telegram, Python and SQLite. The repository describes itself as: Skills collection for Minis. The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ae8c5db. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 5 files in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Tg Hub loads about 2.3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 199 tokens; SKILL.md has 659 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
environment variables directly, with no `.env` file requiredAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from OpenMinis/MinisSkills at commit ae8c5db, republished under its MIT licence (© OpenMinis). 659 words, ~2,286 tokens.

This skill simplifies the original repository as follows:
- Removed the
click/rich/python-dotenv/pyyamldependencies- Kept only
telethonas a third-party dependency- Removed the CLI layer and encapsulated all functionality as a synchronous Python API
- Changed the default session/db path to
/var/minis/workspace/tg-hub/- Changed configuration to read environment variables directly, with no
.envfile required
Telegram MTProto (telethon)
↓ sync / refresh (incremental)
Local SQLite ~/.tg-hub/messages.db
↓ search / today / recent / filter (offline)

Recommendation: Use your own
TG_API_ID/TG_API_HASHwhenever possible. I have synced the upstream tg-cli anti-risk-control implementation: it uses a Telegram Desktop 5.x fingerprint and prints a warning if you continue using the defaultapi_id=2040. The public app ID is only a fallback. Using your own credentials is still recommended for long-term use.
1. Open Terminal
2. (Recommended) Set your own TG_API_ID / TG_API_HASH first
3. cd /var/minis/skills/tg-hub
4. uv run python -c "
import sys; sys.path.insert(0,'.')
from scripts.client import TGClient
me = TGClient().login()
print('Login successful:', me)
"
5. Enter your phone number when prompted (in +86XXXXXXXXXX format)
6. Enter the verification code received in the Telegram app
7. After login succeeds, the session is saved automatically and future logins are not requiredIf you do not have your own credentials for now, you can log in with the built-in public credentials first. If you encounter login or fetch errors, switch to your own APP ID first.
Open Terminal to log in
cd /var/minis/skills/tg-hub

Tg Hub fits situations like: tasks that involve Statistics.
Run `npx skills add OpenMinis/MinisSkills --skill tg-hub -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (tg-hub in OpenMinis/MinisSkills) into .claude/skills/tg-hub in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add OpenMinis/MinisSkills --skill tg-hub -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (tg-hub in OpenMinis/MinisSkills) into .agents/skills/tg-hub in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add OpenMinis/MinisSkills --skill tg-hub -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/tg-hub, .gemini/skills/tg-hub, .github/skills/tg-hub and .opencode/skills/tg-hub in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Tg Hub needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (uv). Our summary lists: Python 3.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. As links in the text: github.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Tg Hub is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 2.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 9.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
