task-bannerSet up (or toggle) a macOS desktop banner that appears whenever Claude Code finishes a task, showing a one-line summary of what was done.
Task Banner is an agent skill from OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills. Set up (or toggle) a macOS desktop banner that appears whenever Claude Code finishes a task, showing a one-line summary of what was done. Use when the user says "notify me when Claude is done", "desktop notification on completion", "set up the task banner", "mute the banner", or "unmute the banner".
Its SKILL.md is about 800 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 1 other file (for example `mac-overlay.js`).
It works with macOS. The repository describes itself as: 77 open-source marketing skills for Claude Code, Codex, and other AI coding agents. SEO, content, email, ads, analytics, and growth. The licence is MIT.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 28bf209. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships script files (JavaScript), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
osascriptFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):
github.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Task Banner loads about 796 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 78 tokens; SKILL.md has 318 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/task-banner/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Show a large, always-on-top desktop banner when Claude Code finishes a turn — with a one-line summary of what was actually completed. Works even when macOS Notification Center silently drops osascript display notification calls (a common problem: the CLI has no Notification Center registration, so the command exits 0 but nothing shows).
The banner is a borderless Cocoa overlay window drawn by mac-overlay.js (a JXA script adapted from peon-ping), so no notification permissions are needed.
osascript -l JavaScript)Copy mac-overlay.js from this skill directory to ~/.claude/scripts/mac-overlay.js.
Merge a Stop hook into ~/.claude/settings.json (read the file first and preserve existing hooks):

/tmp/claude-banner-msg(e.g.printf 'Typecheck fixed and committed' > /tmp/claude-banner-msg). Identify the actual task; never use a generic "task done".
The Stop hook displays the message and deletes the file. If the file is absent, it falls back to "Task done".
The hook checks a sentinel file — no config editing needed:
touch ~/.claude/banner.off # mute the banner
rm -f ~/.claude/banner.off # unmuteWhen the user asks to mute/unmute the banner, run the matching command and report the resulting state.

Task Banner fits situations like: the user says notify me when Claude is done; desktop notification on completion; set up the task banner; mute the banner.
Run `npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill task-banner -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/task-banner in OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills) into .claude/skills/task-banner in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill task-banner -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/task-banner in OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills) into .agents/skills/task-banner in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill task-banner -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/task-banner, .gemini/skills/task-banner, .github/skills/task-banner and .opencode/skills/task-banner in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Task Banner needs JavaScript for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (osascript). Our summary lists: Node.js.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. As links in the text: github.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Task Banner is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 796 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
