What it does

Agentseek Lifecycle is an agent skill from ob-labs/agentseek. Use when helping with AgentSeek-managed projects or AgentSeek-compatible templates: create projects, diagnose lifecycle issues, run doctor/dev/info/task commands, edit lifecycle specs, or maintain Cookiecutter template inputs. Prefer public AgentSeek CLI and template contracts.

Its SKILL.md is about 560 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 5 other files, including reference files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`, `references/agentseek-lifecycle.md` and `references/cookiecutter.md`).

The repository describes itself as: AgentSeek is an application development lifecycle toolkit for AI ecosystem apps, built by OceanBase OSS Team. The licence is Apache-2.0.

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Identify the workspace shape
  2. Work through the public lifecycle surface
  3. Treat .agentseek/lifecycle.toml as the compatibility contract between a generated project and AgentSeek.
  4. Keep changes narrow
  5. Validate with public commands whenever possible.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8abad49. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Agentseek Lifecycle loads about 559 tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 75 tokens; SKILL.md has 186 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~75
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~559
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2.2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

AgentSeek Lifecycle

Core Workflow

  1. Identify the workspace shape:
    • Generated project: look for .agentseek/lifecycle.toml, .env.example, pyproject.toml, frontend files, and project README.
    • Template project: look for cookiecutter.json, rendered {{ cookiecutter... }} paths, generated lifecycle specs, and template README.
  2. Work through the public lifecycle surface:
    • agentseek create
    • agentseek doctor
    • agentseek dev
    • agentseek info
    • agentseek task
  3. Treat .agentseek/lifecycle.toml as the compatibility contract between a generated project and AgentSeek.
  4. Keep changes narrow:
    • Update generated instructions when lifecycle behavior changes.
    • Preserve non-interactive template rendering.
    • Use AgentSeek commands and project files as the validation surface.
  5. Validate with public commands whenever possible.

Load References

  • For lifecycle specs, task expectations, and public validation commands, read references/agentseek-lifecycle.md.
  • For template variables, rendering, --no-input, private variables, hooks, and template maintenance, read references/cookiecutter.md.

Default Validation

For a generated project:

bash
agentseek info
agentseek doctor
agentseek dev --dry-run
agentseek task --list

For a template project, render with defaults into a temporary directory, then run the generated project's lifecycle checks:

bash
tmpdir="$(mktemp -d)"
cd "$tmpdir"
agentseek create <type>/<name> --no-input
cd <generated-project>
agentseek info
agentseek doctor
agentseek dev --dry-run

If the template lives on a branch that is not the template repository's default branch, pass the branch explicitly:

bash
agentseek create <type>/<name> --checkout <branch> --no-input

If the repository provides its own test or lint commands, run the smallest relevant set after the public lifecycle check.
