API Apps is an agent skill from nodetool-ai/nodetool. Call nodetool.apps from a code action: list, read, create and edit mini apps through the App Builder steps, and debug an app's wiring or run it. Load before the first call into nodetool.apps.
Its SKILL.md is about 700 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Media & Creative. The repository describes itself as: Agent-first Creative Workspace. The licence is AGPL-3.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit f99c652. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are javascript).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
API Apps loads about 702 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 324 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from nodetool-ai/nodetool at commit f99c652, republished under its AGPL-3.0 licence (© nodetool-ai). 324 words, ~702 tokens.
.claude/skills/api-apps/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).A mini app is a UI of widgets bound to workflow operations and variables, so
someone can run a task without the graph. How to design one, and every App
Builder tool, is nodetool-app-builder. This is the call reference.
| Call | Does | Answers |
|---|---|---|
list({limit}) | Lists apps, newest first, with their operations. | App rows |
get(id) | Reads the app document: operations, variables and the widget tree. | The document |
create(name, {description, project_id, from_workflow_id, document}) | Creates an app. from_workflow_id binds its first operation to a workflow. document starts from a whole app document. | {application_id, …} |
edit(id, steps, {name, description, workflow_ids, base_updated_at}) | Applies App Builder steps in order to the saved document, then saves once. | The result of each step and the app state |
debug(id, {params, interact, run, timeout_ms, poll}) | Checks every binding and simulates the app. | A pass/fail verdict with issues, and the final state of each widget |
Each step is {tool, input}. tool is an App Builder tool name, such as
ui_app_add_operation or ui_app_add_component. The ui_app_ prefix may be
left out.
edit(id, []) answers the catalog of every tool with its schema, and the
current state of the app. Call it first.workflow_ids loads the bindable surface of workflows the app does not use
yet, so a widget can bind to one.base_updated_at refuses the save when the app changed after you read it.{run: false} checks the wiring only. It is free and takes milliseconds.
Run it after every wiring change.interact scripts the user actions in order: {set: {key, value}},
{click: <widget>}, {change: {…}}, {run: <operationId>},
{cancel: <operationId>}, {seedResource: {id, items}}. A widget is named
by its component id, by a type only one widget has, or by a unique label.
Without interact, the natural run trigger of the app is clicked.poll: true returns a session id at once for a long run.const { application_id } = await nodetool.apps.create("Caption maker",
{ from_workflow_id: wfId });
const catalog = await nodetool.apps.edit(application_id, []);
await nodetool.apps.edit(application_id, [
{ tool: "ui_app_add_component", input: { /* from the catalog schema */ } }
]);
const check = await nodetool.apps.debug(application_id, { run: false });© nodetool-ai, AGPL-3.0. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: API Apps is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
API Apps is published under the AGPL-3.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 702 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
