cut-silencesAgent 1 of the video editing pipeline. An agent skill from nateherkai/hyperframes-student-kit.
Cut Silences is an agent skill from nateherkai/hyperframes-student-kit. Agent 1 of the video editing pipeline. Removes silences and dead air from a talking-head recording. Use when asked to cut silences, trim pauses, remove dead air / gaps, or tighten the pacing of a raw video, given a word-level transcript. Produces an edit list (EDL), a re-timed transcript for downstream agents, and optionally the cut video via ffmpeg. Does NOT cut mistakes, repeats, or false starts — that is the cut-mistakes agent.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.2k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including scripts.
It sits in Media & Creative, covering Video production and Motion graphics. It works with FFmpeg. The repository describes itself as: Edit videos, reels, and YouTube Shorts with Codex or Claude Code. 14 skills, transcript-driven cuts, storytelling, 406 motion-graphics cards, and HyperFrames templates.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0d30152. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (JavaScript), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
nodeFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Cut Silences loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 112 tokens; SKILL.md has 454 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 454 words (~1,205 tokens).
“First step of the automated edit. Takes a raw recording + its word-level transcript and removes only silence: dead air before the first word and after the last word, plus inter-word pauses longer than a threshold (trimmed down to a…”

Run `npx skills add nateherkai/hyperframes-student-kit --skill cut-silences -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/cut-silences in nateherkai/hyperframes-student-kit) into .claude/skills/cut-silences in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add nateherkai/hyperframes-student-kit --skill cut-silences -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/cut-silences, .gemini/skills/cut-silences, .github/skills/cut-silences and .opencode/skills/cut-silences in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Cut Silences needs JavaScript for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (node). Our summary lists: Node.js.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Cut Silences has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
