ob1-local-httpCaptures and searches personal notes in a self-hosted Open Brain using plain curl calls over HTTP, for setups where MCP is disabled or blocked.
Where Claude Code's MCP support is turned off or the network blocks remote MCP endpoints, this skill replaces the usual Open Brain connection with curl calls to a brain running on the local network, set up by the companion local-brain-no-mcp recipe. It keeps the same behavior: saving a thought, recalling one and listing recent ones.
Two environment variables, BRAIN_URL and BRAIN_ANON_KEY, must be exported on the dev host; if either is missing the agent stops and asks you to follow the recipe's install steps rather than guessing. Capture posts text to the capture function with optional metadata such as source, tags and thread ID, and the server fingerprints content, so saving identical text again returns the existing ID. Search posts a query with a match threshold that defaults to 0.7, lowered to between 0.5 and 0.65 for broader recall, raised to 0.8 or more for precision, with the match count capped at 100. A list call shows recent items.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 238df6c. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curldockerollamaFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use curl and docker, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
BRAIN_ANON_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Open Brain Local HTTP loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 138 tokens; SKILL.md has 495 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
check `supabase-docker/docker/.env` on the brain host.Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 495 words (~1,188 tokens).
“The canonical Open Brain stack assumes Claude Code can talk to a remote Supabase MCP server. In environments that disable MCP entirely -- corporate networks, air-gapped offices, restricted Claude Code builds -- that path is not available. This skill replaces…”

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add NateBJones-Projects/OB1 --skill ob1-local-http -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Open Brain Local HTTP needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl, docker and ollama) and credentials named BRAIN_ANON_KEY. Our summary lists: A self-hosted Open Brain stack reachable on the local network; BRAIN_URL and BRAIN_ANON_KEY environment variables; curl.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use curl and docker, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Open Brain Local HTTP has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
