At a glance

Auto-standardize a MD focus/event/decision/idea/MIO/technology file with the tools/standardization/ scripts and report what changed.

  • Works in 4 steps: Determine the file type from the path → Run from the tools/standardization/… → Report what changed: list each block… → …
  • Asked to standardize
  • Calls python3
  • Bring a mod file up to MD conventions

What it does

Standardize is an agent skill from MillenniumDawn/Millennium-Dawn. Auto-standardize a MD focus/event/decision/idea/MIO/technology file with the tools/standardization/ scripts and report what changed. Use when asked to standardize, reformat, or bring a mod file up to MD conventions. Takes the file path as argument.

Its SKILL.md is about 370 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

The repository describes itself as: Millennium Dawn and it's codebase. The licence is CC-BY-SA-4.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Asked to standardize
  • Bring a mod file up to MD conventions

Example prompts

  • “/standardize”

Requirements

  • Python 3

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Determine the file type from the path
  2. Run from the tools/standardization/ directory
  3. Report what changed: list each block that was reformatted and what was fixed (missing logging, property reordering, removed…
  4. If any issues were warned about but not auto-fixed, list them so the user can address them manually.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5821281. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • python3

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Standardize loads about 366 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 65 tokens; SKILL.md has 136 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~65
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~366

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

description
Auto-standardize a MD focus/event/decision/idea/MIO/technology file with the tools/standardization/ scripts and report what changed. Use when asked to standardize, reformat, or bring a mod file up to MD conventions. Takes the file path as argument.

Standardize a Millennium Dawn mod file using the standardization tools.

File to standardize: $ARGUMENTS

Steps:

  1. Determine the file type from the path:

    • common/national_focus/ or filename contains "focus" → focus
    • events/ → event
    • common/decisions/ → decision
    • common/ideas/ → idea
    • common/military_industrial_organization/organizations/ → mio
    • common/technologies/ → technology If the type cannot be determined, ask the user to clarify.
  2. Run from the tools/standardization/ directory:

    python3 standardize.py <type> <absolute_file_path> --backup --verbose

For focus trees, add --check-naming to also enforce TAG_snake_case on country-specific MODIFIER names. It scans the whole file, so a tree carrying pre-existing violations will fail without writing anything — only use it when you intend to clean those up.

  3. Report what changed: list each block that was reformatted and what was fixed (missing logging, property reordering, removed performance-hurting patterns, etc.)

  4. If any issues were warned about but not auto-fixed, list them so the user can address them manually.
