ort-lintLints and formats C++ and Python code in the ONNX Runtime repository with lintrunner, clang-format and ruff, preferring a pass over only the changed files.
ONNX Runtime uses lintrunner for both C++ (through clang-format) and Python (through ruff). Setup happens once: `pip install -r requirements-lintrunner.txt`, then `lintrunner init`. The everyday command is `lintrunner -a`, which auto-fixes the changed files; adding `--all-files` sweeps the whole tree, and specific file paths can be listed instead.
The style rules are spelled out. C++ follows Google C++ Style with modifications described in `docs/Coding_Conventions_and_Standards.md`, with a 120-character limit and an aim of 80, configured in `.clang-format` and `.clang-tidy`. Python follows the Google Python Style Guide, an extension of PEP 8, also capped at 120 characters and configured in `pyproject.toml`. For the agent: activate a Python virtual environment before installing, set up lintrunner first if it is missing, and use the changed-files form unless you ask for a full sweep.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8420709. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

ONNX Runtime Lint loads about 392 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 37 tokens; SKILL.md has 111 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

ONNX Runtime Lint fits situations like: formatting C++ or Python changes before opening an ONNX Runtime pull request; checking code style across the whole ONNX Runtime tree; setting up lintrunner in a fresh ONNX Runtime checkout.
Run `npx skills add microsoft/onnxruntime --skill ort-lint -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.github/skills/ort-lint in microsoft/onnxruntime) into .claude/skills/ort-lint in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add microsoft/onnxruntime --skill ort-lint -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/ort-lint, .gemini/skills/ort-lint, .github/skills/ort-lint and .opencode/skills/ort-lint in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, ONNX Runtime Lint needs the command-line tools its instructions call (pip). Our summary lists: A checkout of the ONNX Runtime repository; Python with pip and a virtual environment; `lintrunner` installed from `requirements-lintrunner.txt`.

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

About 392 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
