  • Calls git, pnpm and gh

What it does

The agent reviews code directly in the main context, following a fixed flow: determine scope, read git history, analyze, run quality gates, write the report, create Beads tasks and summarize. The scope comes from your wording, such as staged changes only, staged plus unstaged, the branch against its base, a PR diff, a single path or the last few commits. Lockfiles, minified bundles, source maps and generated type files are skipped.

Depth adapts to size, from exhaustive line-by-line reading for a handful of files to a surgical pass over security-critical paths, new APIs and schema changes when more than 20 files changed. The git history step is mandatory because it exposes removed safety checks, reverted patterns and blast radius. Findings are split into Issues that need fixing and Improvements, each tied to a file and line, and the stated aim is reducing risk, so clean code is reported as clean. The excerpt is cut off before the priority table and report format.

When your agent uses it

  • Reviewing staged changes before a commit
  • Reviewing a whole branch or a PR before merge
  • Checking a directory or recent commits for bugs and security gaps
  • Turning review findings into tracked Beads tasks

Example prompts

  • “Review my staged changes before I commit.”
  • “Do a code review of this branch against develop and create tasks for the issues.”
  • “Review the current PR and report only real bugs and security gaps.”
  • “Review src/auth/ for security problems.”

Requirements

  • Git
  • Beads for task tracking
  • GitHub CLI for reviewing pull requests

Workflow steps

7 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Determine Scope
  2. Analyze Git History
  3. Read & Analyze
  4. Quality Gates
  5. Generate Report
  6. Create Beads Tasks
  7. Present Summary

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8c3b576. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • git
    • pnpm
    • gh

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, pnpm and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Code Review with Beads Tasks loads about 2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 153 tokens; SKILL.md has 551 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~153
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 551 words (~2,000 tokens).
