upstash-workflowImplementation patterns for Upstash Workflow and QStash handlers in the LobeHub codebase: dry runs, fan-out chunking and single-item execution.
How async workflows are built in LobeHub with Upstash Workflow and QStash. Every workflow combines three patterns, each tied to a platform limit: dry-run mode, which previews what would be processed without side effects; fan-out, which splits a large batch into smaller chunks so a workflow stays under step and rate limits; and single-task execution, where each run handles exactly one item so that retries do not double-process.
Workflows follow a three-layer layout: an entry layer that validates prerequisites and counts items, a middle layer that pages through items and fans out chunks, and an execution layer that processes one item under `flowControl`. Defaults are 50 items per page and 20 per chunk. Handlers are Hono apps under `apps/server/src/router-hono/workflows/`, reached through a single catch-all Next.js route. Reference files cover best practices, cloud usage, examples such as `topicAutoSummary` and `agentEvalRun`, and implementation details.
3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 35d442e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are typescript and bash).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

upstash.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
QSTASH_TOKENFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Upstash Workflow Patterns loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs, and up to ~9k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 25 tokens; SKILL.md has 416 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 416 words (~1,713 tokens).

Implementation patterns for Upstash Workflow and QStash handlers in the LobeHub codebase: dry runs, fan-out chunking and single-item execution.
Upstash Workflow Patterns fits situations like: adding a new Upstash Workflow handler to the LobeHub codebase; splitting a large batch job into fan-out chunks; making a workflow safe to retry without double-processing; adding a dry-run option that previews how many items a workflow would process.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill upstash-workflow -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/upstash-workflow in lobehub/lobehub) into .claude/skills/upstash-workflow in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill upstash-workflow -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/upstash-workflow in lobehub/lobehub) into .agents/skills/upstash-workflow in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lobehub/lobehub --skill upstash-workflow -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/upstash-workflow, .gemini/skills/upstash-workflow, .github/skills/upstash-workflow and .opencode/skills/upstash-workflow in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Upstash Workflow Patterns needs credentials named QSTASH_TOKEN. Our summary lists: The LobeHub codebase with its Hono workflow router; An Upstash Workflow and QStash setup.
SKILL.md names 2 domains. In commands or code: custom-qstash.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: upstash.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Upstash Workflow Patterns has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 7.3k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
